Tip 6: Avoid slow play

How much faster should we play is always a hot topic in golf, and a regular matter of debate at any course.

We don't need to hurry our shots, this will only lead to mistakes and less fun, especially for a beginner. All you need to do to retain a good pace of play is be ready to play when it's your turn and if the group behind is kept waiting then let them through.

Keep up with the group in front rather than merely ahead of the group behind and you will be happier and be able to relax into your game.

Additionally, if you think your ball could be lost or out of bounds, play a provisional to save time.

Parking your bag, trolley or buggy away from the front of the green - ideally on the route toward the next tee - is also a good time-saver.
