The refurbished clubhouse at Princes

Troon Golf, the golf course management, development and marketing company has taken on the renowned Princes Golf Club in Kent as the the latest addition to its portfolio.

Princes hosted the Open Championship in 1932 - won by Gene Sarazen - and continues to welcome visitors throughout the world to its events.

The newly-lengthened Championship course will also host final Qualifying for the Open when it is staged at adjoining Royal St Georges in 2011.

Following the devastation of the course during World War II, Sir Guy Campbell and John Morrison were commissioned to restore Princes to its former glory and saved 17 of its original greens in creating a new 27 hole facility.

The 9-hole loops of the Shore, Dunes and Himalayas courses are all classic links with deep bunkers, undulating fairways and tricky greens.

Says Bruce Glasco, Troon Golf’s managing director: “We are thrilled to be working with such an esteemed name in golf as Princes and look forward to forging strong partnerships with the team here.” commented.

The company, which has its headquarters in Geneva manages operations at 39 courses in 14 countries including Castiglion del Bosco (Italy), Oceânico Amendoeira (Portugal), Turnberry and The Grove near Watford.
