The popular My Circle Golf autumn/winter series continues to visit London courses during the festive period – with three events scheduled for December and January.
The My Circle Golf app not only helps people find, connect and play with a community of like-minded golfers, but it also hosts its own events for users, providing an ideal opportunity for people to get together and meet other users in a fun and informal context.
Each tournament also has individual prizes up for grabs for the best Stableford score.
A fortnight later, the series heads 14 miles north to Barnet, to experience the Seve Ballesteros-designed Shire London.
Opened in 2007, the Shire London is the only Ballesteros course in England, and offers no two consecutive holes of the same par. It features links-style holes, parkland holes and dramatic water holes, all framed by more than 10,000 mature trees.
Events have also provisionally been arranged for Hampton Court Palace GC in Kingston, Surrey, on February 11, and a fortnight later at North Middlesex GC in Friern Barnet. Confirmation of these dates will appear on the My Circle Golf website.
Entering the competition could not be simpler. Once golfers have downloaded the free app, they will receive an invite detailing the date, time and venue – much like they would receive an invite from a friend on other social media.
The price of entry varies for each competition and venue, though each will offer excellent value. And, the player with the highest accumulated Stableford points score – using the three best scores for each player – by the end of the autumn/winter series, will win a Scotty Cameron Golo 5 putter. What’s more, for those people who are unable to participate, My Circle Golf can assist in setting up their own events to count towards the series scores.
The app was created by keen golfer and Cambridge graduate Gian Paolo Ziletti.
He said: “The emphasis for the festive autumn/winter series is on meeting other members of the My Circle Golf community and, at least for the coming chilly winter months, giving people a good reason to get out on the golf course and enjoy some beneficial outdoor exercise.
“It’s all part of the My Circle Golf ethos, to encourage far more people to dust off their clubs, or provide help, guidance and a way into the game for those looking to try out the sport for the first time or in a new area.”
Inspired by social networks, which brought together groups of like-minded people in social ‘circles’ Ziletti conceived My Circle Golf to provide the same service for golfers.
Available now from the Apple app store and Google Play store, My Circle Golf is free to download. It currently provides connections and locations for people wishing to play in London and the south-east and plans for a national roll-out early in 2017.
