A Tailor-made deal

TaylorMade makes a move on Maxfli

In a move designed to strengthen its position in the ball market, TaylorMade has bid for and won exclusive rights of licence and distribution for Maxfli and Slazenger golf brands.

TaylorMade has tried to break into the golf ball market with its Inergel balls, but has so far met with limited success. Now in the deal between the two parent companies Adidas-Salomo (TaylorMade) and Dunlop Slazenger (Maxfli and Slazenger), both parties will be playing to their strengths. TaylorMade will deal with licensing and distribution while Dunlop-Slazenger take over TaylorMade's ball production and will deal with the manufacturing and supply of the Maxfli, Slazenger and TaylorMade balls.

Both companies hope that the deal will allow them to develop their strengths and yield greater economies of scale.
