Callaway Golf and Nike are hoping to cash in on a resurgence in women’s golf with stylish new products for spring and summer.

They are hoping that their new ranges will appeal to a new crop of women joining the sport and keen to sample its stylish, healthy image and attract an even younger element – the next generation of schoolgirl prodigies like Grace Park and Michelle Wie.

Sportswear designer Joey Rodolfo, has strongly influenced the Callaway Golf Apparel collection with a European fit and style to appeal to women golfers from 16-60.

Says Callaway GA’s Jo Ettrick: "The Lacosta range is perfect weekend wear - striking designs in black, white, lime and citrus colours, while the Sorrento range will be a mix of beige, brown, pale blue and yellow. Fabrics include merino wool, cotton and even leather."

Nike Golf’s Spring Summer range for women has been inspired by its elegant Korean staff player Grace Park.

New vibrant colours will be a feature of the extension to the Slim-FIT Collection, using Dri-FIT moisture control fabrics. They include the stretch woven sleeveless (RRP £30) and three-quarter sleeve (£35) shirt, the Rayon short-sleeve shirt (£30) and the Dri-FIT sleeveless and short sleeve shirt (from £25)

The new Nike Relaxed Collection features Stretch Mercerized short sleeve and sleeveless polos (£25-£30) and the Women’s Sphere Dri-Polo (£35). Completing the range is the Course Essentials collection, featuring the Angora Blend top and vest, costing £50 and £40 respectively. There are also trousers, shorts and skirts in angora blended wool.

Nike Air Go-Go shoes for women

In February, Nike Golf also plans to launch its Air Go-Go range of cool slip-on, shoes for women, made of water-resistant synthetic leather with velcro fastenings.

The shoes also feature, air cushioning in the heel, T@C4 traction and Scorpion Spikes. Recommended retail cost for the shoes, either in dark blue or white is £60.

On reading the article here on GM, I see that Callaway are bringing out a new range of golf clothes for ladies in the UK for the coming season. That's great, although I haven't actually seen the range yet. But I'd like to take an educated guess that it's produced for the average lady of 5ft 6" and over. Why do I have to travel to the States for clothes that actually fit me? It is the most annoying thing about ladies golf in this country. If the Americans can sell a "petite" fitting on all their clothes, why can't we?

I know how annoying it is in this country my daughter is 5'10" and it's just the same problem at that 'end@ of the market when she is trying to buy tennage fashion clothes.

I did suggest Marks and Sparks to her because I know they do longer lengths but the look said it all.

I can just imagine "the look". It's like telling you to go to a gentlemans outfitters that sell clothes for the over 80's.

Problem with Marks is that they do the lengths but not the "cut" that the young ones want. My daughter would'nt be caught dead in Marks.

You know you're past your prime when Marks & Sparks is the first port of call when buying clothes. Still grieving over the closure of their stores in France.

My wife is 5'2", LGL, and has the same problems re:- petite clothing. Thank god I'm a man (well, some might dispute that).

As long as she doesn't Mc Al, that's the main thing!
