Hot on the heels of Ryder Cup victory and runner-up spot on the BBC Sports Personality of the Year programme, Darren Clarke has chosen to wear Stuburt shoes on Tour in 2007.

The 38-year old Ulsterman, who has agreed a three-year deal with UK Golf Services, owner of the Stuburt shoes and waterproofs brand, will help develop an exclusive Darren Clarke range of Stuburt golf shoes.

“Stuburt and Darren Clarke seem to be the perfect fit,” said Clarke, who made an emotional return to the game at the Ryder Cup in Ireland, following the death of his wife Heather. “I can’t wait to start next season with my new footwear."

Stuburt managing director, Graeme Stevens, said: "Signing Darren is a huge coup and will bring one of the world's most recognised golfers into the Stuburt stable. Darren handled himself magnificently during the Ryder Cup, in very difficult circumstances, and will be another perfect ambassador for Stuburt."

With career earnings of £11 million and 15 professional victories including the WGC Accenture World Matchplay title, Clarke joins European No.3 and fellow Ryder Cup hero David Howell in recently formed Team Stuburt.

Howell, who announced this week that he's likely to spend more time on the US PGA Tour circuit, committing to at least 15 events, will wear Stuburt's advanced Helium Pro shoes in 2007, set to be launched at the PGA Merchandise Show in Florida at the end of January.
