South Korea’s Sung Hyun Park is the first LPGA Tour rookie to reach number one in the world.

The 24-year-old replaces compatriot So Yeon Ryu at the top of the list, bringing an end to a 19-week stint for Ryu as world number one.

After clinching 10 titles on the Korean LPGA Tour, Park has won the US Women’s Open and the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open in her first attempt in the top tier.

She also has nine top-10 finishes, and has never missed a cut.

"I was very surprised and amazed by what I've achieved," Park told LPGA.com. "This is an honour for my whole family."
