Bettinardi CC model putter.

Bob Bettinardi is one of the world’s foremost putter designers – alongside Scotty Cameron (Titleist) and David Mills (Mizuno) – and has now joined forces to make them for the Ben Hogan company.

The first new batch of four models will be available shortly but they won’t be cheap. While Odyssey is asking £150 for its White Hot Two-ball putter – the most popular with amateurs and on worldwide pro Tours - the Bettinardis will range from £175 to £200.

The Big Ben putter with a new alignment style and unique five point sole has a suggested retail price of £175, same as the X Series made of a proprietary new metal with an aluminium insert. The CC Series includes carbon steel with gold-plated copper insert and is recommended to sell at £200. All have the distinctive honeycomb finish.

Ben Hogan Tour players, including Luke Donald and Mark Brooks, already play with Bettinardi putters.

"We only entered the putter market when we had the finest feel and best looking putters," says Ian Stringfellow, director of marketing at Spalding Sports which drives the Hogan brand in the UK. "It was also vital to have a putter that has the utmost respect from Tour players and has been in the winners circle numerous times. Once those criteria were established, it was only fitting that we team up with Bob Bettinardi. He’s a craftsman, artist and his brand personifies Mr. Hogan’s values."

The putters are precision milled from one solid piece of metal and every putter passes through at least 14 sets of hands, checking 20 tolerances before it gets a seal of approval.
