White Hot 2-ball putter launch

New 2-ball putter from Odyssey.
Callaway Golf’s Odyssey White Hot 2-ball putter is kicking up a storm on the tournament greens of the world with the latest success achieved in the hands of World No.1 Annika Sorenstam, who claimed her eighth victory of the year in the Mizuno Championship in Japan on Sunday.

Former Open champion Paul Lawrie has already landed significant success with the odd-looking club, which has the images of two golf balls behind its clubface, when he won the recent Dunhill Links championship at St Andrews with a 60-foot putt through the Valley of Sin.

Now the putter is heading for Europe’s club golfers and will be a star attraction at next week’s golf trade show in Marbella where leading manufacturers are revealing their 2002 products.

Heel-toe weighted, with an insert face using the skin of the Callaway ball range, for a soft feel off the clubface, the putter will cost £149.

Sounds a lot but if it can save you a handful of shots a round ( and you use your putter for upto 50 per-cent of the strokes you play, remember) it’s a small price to pay.

Callaway's C4 driver.
Callaway will also have White Hot Rossie Mallet (£109) and some sparkling new woods and irons on show.

There’s the Big Bertha C4 driver, described as ‘ the friendliest high velocity driver, Callaway has ever made’ expected to cost £399 and Big Bertha Steelhead III drivers and fairway woods costing £139 with steel shaft and £199 each for graphite.

Completing the newcomers are Callaway’s Big Bertha irons for men and women. For £699(steel shaft) or £849 (graphite) you will get nine irons (from 1-10, and a choice of three wedges).

Sorry - I can't see any explanation for the phantom two-balls behind the putter face? Can someone give me some idea why - practically - it's designed like that?

They ran out of other ideas - there's only so much you can do with a putter. I think there ought to be a ban from the golfing bodies on some of the more 'adventurous' designs.

I suppose the idea is you line up the 2 'phantom' balls with your ball to help ensure the putter face is square??

Stuck a couple of Pinnacles on the back of my old 'Blackjack' putter with Superglue. Should have looked at the Odyssey design first, doesn't really help alignment much when they're side by side.
