Two new models of golf shoe are being introduced by Mizuno to herald its return to this popular segment of the European golf market.

Adapted from its Japanese line of Mizuno Wave running shoes, the Mizuno MP Leather shoe will cost £159 a pair and the Stability Style £120.

The corrugated mid-sole cushioning system has been re-configured for specific golf usage with the advantage of extreme lateral stability, for a powerful swing base.

Exquisitely styled in fine grain leather, the MP model has newly developed IG3 spikes for extra stability and a sole ideally suited to the stress of walking 18 holes. It's available in black or white.

The Stability style model is built for durability with breathable synthetic upper, has quick release bio-lock laces and is available in white/red or white/navy.

Says Clint Vosloo, Mizuno's shoe design manager says: “We have an incredible base of technologies and understanding of biomechanics that have already been successfully incorporated into Mizuno’s Japan domestic line of golf shoes.

“Many Mizuno golfers in Europe are also runners, which has resulted in an increased demand for golf shoes.  This is a great time for Mizuno to re-introduce its shoes into Europe and state our presence as a much wider-reaching sporting goods manufacturer.”

Good to see Mizuno back in style with these new shoes. Particularly impressed by the MP Leather model which look classic and very elegant. My only worry would be keeping them non-scuffed and as pristine as the picture!

 

How are you at looking after your golf shoes? Are they just left on a shelf in the garage to dry out, caked with mud or are you among those of us who clean them avidly straight after playing?

1 Over.

Usually a quick brush and a wipe down at the club, Then a proper Wash, Polish and Buff after 3 rounds.

Then stored in the shoe cupboard and a different pair is taken out for the next 3 rounds, I swap my shoes over every 3 rounds and find this makes them last for years.

As stated in another shoe thread I've just thrown out a pair of Callaway Chevs after 5 years of use.

Perfect for Taz!

I have to admit I don't really look after my golf shoes, they get left in the open to dry, never on a heater, and the cleats get cleaned.  If there is excessive mud I will wipe it off but otherwise that's it.

They don't look too bad but at that price there is quite a bit of nice competition.

Won't look so good when that heel is full of grass'n mud though

. . . and what's all this about a lot of British golfers also being runners?

You wouldn't think so, the time they take getting round.

Golf is not that athletic, you don't need running shoes with airsoles, you don't need combat shoes or trainers either.

What the hell do they think we do out there?

Just a nice pair of comfortable pair of shoes with some decent spikes please.

Keep your airsoles for the ********'s

personally I think they look hideous.

I have a pair of Mizuno Wave running shoes that are great but Would not want that style on the golf cours.

Always rinse the mud off my FJs after each round, spray with Graingers waterproofing spray, dry and then polish with Kiwi Black polish.

  my footjoys get the works as soon as i get in from playing ,its battery on charge towel in the washing macine and then its shoes cleaned and put away ready for the next trip out.

 Just noticed that the second string version of those Mizuno shoes are not even leather but synthetic.

. . . for that price

Easy on there Taz, its ok you don't run, but no need for all the pokes towards people who do.

Those MPs look fantastic, but at £159 they are asking a little too much I fear. I agree with Taz on one thing, £129 for synthetic shoes is mental, must be a typo.

Do you know how expensive plastic cows are to look after?

Eh? . . . What 'pokes' toward runners?  - - -  you're reading summat that isn't there.

I merely stated that adapting golf shoes with running shoe technology is a bit pointless, we hardly run round a golf course. Therefore, the hollowed out sole is just an expensive design gimmick.

None of the guys that I play golf with are runners - just limping wrinklies
