Mezza Monza monster!

Looking from one angle like a monster from the deep, the new Rossa Mezza Monza putter could well frighten the ball into the hole!

It’s more than a mouthful as well as a handful and is the latest version from the TaylorMade stable, which will also include a centre-shafted model.

The putter incorporates the same features that helped distinguish the original Monza, which TM introduced last year, with its trapezoidal head, centre of gravity back (CGB) pipes and Titallium face insert all combining to take the bounce out of the roll of the ball.

What differentiates the centre-shafted model is the centre joint for players prone to leaving the putter face open at impact.

Each Monza putterhead is forged from lightweight, 6061 aluminium with pipes separated by a vivid, white sight-line to help allignment and prkote accuracy. Cost is £139 for either model.

TM Rescue fairway metal

Meanwhile, club that is currently catching the imagination of regular golfers more than any other is the versatile rescue club.

Thousands of high and low handicap golfers are taking full advantage of new technology which combines the opportunity to recover from miss-hit shots off the tee, yet find the green from a variety of lies and longer distances.

TaylorMade has joined the battle of the emerging small headed, shorter shafted clubs with its Rescue Fairway metal, that incorporates the features of its popular Rescue Mid with a fairway wood. TM claims it’s ‘easy to hit long, high and straight.’

It’s engineered to combine a high launch angle with high spin-rate, for a ‘high, long-carrying, fast-stopping shots.’

With a moderate offset in the head, it claims to ‘enhance a player's ability to square the clubface to the ball a high and penetrating flight.’

The Rescue Fairway also shares the Rescue Mid's double sole design, which reduces the amount of sole area that contacts the turf, resulting in less resistance at impact, promoting solid contact. The double sole is also generously cambered from toe to heel, easing playability from all types of lies.

The lightweight MAS2 55 graphite shaft is available in stiff, regular and M flexes while the steel Light Metal 2 shaft is vailable in S and R flexes.

Three, 5-, and 7-wood versions will cost £149 for graphite and £129 for steel.
