 R580 fairway metal.

While its 200 Steel fairway woods are battling out with Callaway for No.1 position on the European Tour, TaylorMade is extending its R500 family by introducing three R580 titanium fairway metals.
Already the No. 1 driver-maker on the PGA and European Tours, TaylorMade Golf wants to capitalise on its success, with 3-, 5- and 7-wood versions of the R580 Ti.
But in the end it could all come down to the price tag and whether amateur golfers are prepared to pay £299 for a club they might use only a handful of times in a round.
Engineers have made the sleek R580 line the largest fairway woods TaylorMade has ever created – as well as the hottest – with a barely legal .810 COR (coefficient of restitution) club face.
TaylorMade also claims it has produced the’ optimum combination’ of high launch angle and high spin, resulting in ‘high trajectory, long carry and maximum distance.’
"The performance of the R580 fairway woods is made possible by the R500 Series drivers," says TaylorMade’s Sean Toulon. "By employing some of the same technologies used in the R500 Series, we are able to make these fairway metals the longest and most-forgiving we’ve ever produced.
