White Steel 2-ball putter from Odyssey

Latest putter from Odyssey is the White Steel 2-ball blade, which Callaway claims is ‘the next revolution in the insert putter category.’

The putter features Dual Insert Technology integrating a precision-milled, stainless steel insert in the centre of a modified White Hot urethane face insert.

"It allows weight to be repositioned deep in the putterhead for greater resistance to twisting, increased stability on off-centre putts and better feel and roll," says Odyssey.

Each model will feature a bright, distinctive Odyssey Red Swirl grip from Winn, made from a soft polymer compound

Prices of six models will range from £99 for the traditional heel-toe-weighted or blade to £149 for the White Steel 2-ball versions.

Wow, this could be the one... Having had a serious fall out with my futura..(RIP). The Futura just wasn't designed for the Great British greens throughout Autumn Winter or Spring or our wet Summer come to think of it. I've decided to take the plunge and buy a 2 ball. having heard the new Steel version was due to hit the shops, I waited and finaly ordered the new steel version today from 118 golf. The one I've ordered is the standard shape not the blade. Can't wait for it too arrive (Hopefully before weekend). I'll post a review as soon it's had a couple of outings...

Can't help wondering why they have stuck a bit of stainless sheet in the middle of the white hot (holy grail) insert. Will the nextist bestist model have a brass insert, set in the stainless insert, set in the white insert, that is attached to the black insert, that is set into the stainless steel head.

....and why?

That's been puzzling me too. Why not have a stainless steel face and stop buggering around with an insert in the insert.

What? Eddo's got rid of a Futura - the best putter ever made - ever.

... and the most ridiculous looking.

Seems like Odyssey are wringing what they can out of the 2-ball success, how many versions now, original, blade, white-hot, DFX, steel, centre shafted, broom handled as well as all the cross breeds of each other!!!

Did'nt get on with my DFX 2-ball, swapped to a more traditional shaped Rossa Daytona. Back to putting below average instead of awful!

the steel insert is milled like the scottys for extra feel. I bought one last friday. Spent 4 hours saturday and 6 hours sunday using it. 1800 putts or so later and i can honestly say its better than a scotty cameron.

wizard, the different shaft presentations are essential to allow for everyones optimum stance. Acushnet do the same with scotty -

Brian I can now understand what you have to do to have a +2 handicap. If only I could find the time!

I took delivery of my new White Steel 2-ball yesterday and played last night...

The weight of this putter seems heavier than any any other mallet style putter I've used in the past (which suits my putting style). Also, the control off the face seems easier judge. After the second hole, I'd really got to know the length and was always within 2 feet from the hole.

Although the greens were a little wet, with not much break, the ball appeared to roll straight off the face, no bobbles or hops.

I know I will need to practice a little more with it, but on my first outing I did feel that the control off the face was far better than the White Hot and DFX inserts that I tried last week.
