Nike will introduce three new types of iron club in November. The Victory Red series Forged TW Blades, Forged Split Cavity and Full Cavity have been inspired by World No.1 Tiger Woods and some are already in the hands of leading Tour players including Paul Casey, Trevor Immelman and Oliver Fisher.

Casey, who gained a thrilling half in the Ryder Cup singles at Valhalla, has credited his new Victory Red Forged TW Blades with giving him extra distance.

“For me, they go about two to three yards further than my old set,” he said Casey.

The Victory Red Forged TW Blade features a more traditional muscle back design with a centre of gravity positioned to Tiger Woods’ specification to provide the control and shot shaping the World No.1 demands. Made of 1025 Forged Carbon steel with a CNC milled face, they differ from Nike’s original Blades through a more modified backpad and a slightly thicker toe.

“I like the new VR Blades because of the consistent feel throughout the bag, how good it looks in a playing position and my workability." said Woods who used a 60-degree VR wedge to win his US open title in June.

“I can shape the ball both ways, change my trajectory, do whatever I need to do to hit the ball closest to the hole and be as efficient as I can throughout the round. That’s ultimately what you want to have happen. I hope to have these new irons in my bag when I return to competition. ”

Available in right-hand only, the men's set (3-PW) will cost £720 or £630 for a set of seven irons (4-PW).

The VR Forged Split Cavity irons are available in both left and right-handed versions costing £630 for seven irons and £720 for eight.

They have a moderately wider sole and slightly thicker topline than the blades and a split back design which positions the centre of gravity behind the sweet spot for more control and forgiveness. They deliver a higher trajectory from a more offset head.

The full cavity VR iron is even more offset with a wide sole and thick topline to give more confidence to the club golfer. Centre of gravity is further back to give a high launch and soft landing. Nike claims it's more forgiving on off-centre hits and has a progressive thickness of the face from top to bottom.

Available in left and right-hand options for men (4-SW) and women (5-SW), prices are expected to range from £490 for seven clubs with steel shafts to £640 for eight clubs with graphite shafts.
