Srixon Z-Star XV ball revealed

Soon golfers around the world will be able to play the Srixon Z-STAR XV ball, the same model with which Japanese super-kid golfer Ryo Ishikawa shot a world Tour record round of 58 in winning the Crowns Tournament in Japan last May.

The four-piece ball's urethane cover is among the thinnest and softest in the premium ball market, producing a combination of both distance and low spin with a high trajectory.

Ideal for golfers with swing speed exceeds 95mph, Srixon engineers say Z-STAR XV ball which will retail at £45 a dozen, feels slightly firmer, but does not sacrifice feel and control around the greens.

Srixon has also launched this week an updated Z-STAR ball with a 324 aerodynamic dimple design, combined with a new core which promotes a penetrating ball flight that claims to be unyielding to the wind.

The 90-compression multi layered 3-piece ball, says Srixon, has an extremely soft feel and is longer than it’s predecessor. It performs best with driver swing speeds between 80 and 105 mph.

With the introduction of Pure White and Tour Yellow in both the Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV, Srixon says it has taken visual performance in golf balls to the next level.

Both balls will be available through leading golf shops from late February.

Among Srixon Z-STAR users, who won 47 events internationally in 2010. are new signing Graeme McDowell, Robert Allenby, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Ishikawa, Vijay Singh, Boo Weekley, Soren Kjeldsen, Fernando Gonzalez-Castano, Shane Lowry and Laura Davies.
