American Brendan Steele won the Safeway Open for the second year running with a two-shot victory yesterday.

The 34-year-old posted five birdies in his opening 14 holes en route to a closing 69, three under.

''I'm getting pretty spoiled winning the first event of the year twice,'' said Steele. ''This place is so great to me. I feel so comfortable here and it's been a great run.''
