King Cobra SS 370 – ‘awesome’.
|
At the age of 71 John Barber, from Maidstone, was finding he couldn’t keep up with his younger and stronger golf partners.
He wasn’t looking forward to the next few years; then he discovered the King Cobra SS 370 Unlimited driver and it has rejuvenated his game.
"I was losing my length with my Yonex driver and though I tried many other clubs had decided the Father Time could not be beaten.
"Then I tried a friend’s King Cobra 370 and ball after ball gave me an extra 25-30 yards. Now I’ve got one in my bag I haven’t looked back. It’s awesome," said John, a 15 handicapper at Faversham GC, Kent, in his user review.
He’s one of four winners this month of a sleeve of three limited edition Golfmagic Titleist PTS balls for his submission.
Two other reviewers gave glowing observations on Mizuno products.
Richard George from Great Notley in Essex describes himself as 'a golfing gypsy', with no fixed abode as a club member but a handicap he estimates at around 21.
He claimed a new set of Mizuno MX-20 irons
inspired confidence knocked five shots off his round.
"They’re expensive but, as with most things, you pay for what you get," he says.
"After using graphite irons for a number of years and reaching a scoring 'plateau', it was time to go back to steel shafts and what a revelation these clubs have been with their grain forged heads."
Allastair Lindsay from Norwich says he wanted a putter that was both affordable and confidence-boosting. He found it at his local pro shop in the
Mizuno Widec.
Though ‘a little too light’ for his taste it ‘stood out a mile’ from others he tried.
"I wrote the review because I was actually searching for a new putter and found other reviews on the site extremely helpful. So I thought I'd do the same with my old one in the hope
that it helps someone else out," said Allastair who has been playing regularly for only four months and has yet to break 100.
However, not all reviews are satisfied with their purchases and it doesn’t need to be a glowing report to win a prize. Chris Clements, a 19 handicapper from The Vale GC in Worcestershire was blunt and honest when he rated the
Wilson Fat Shaft C14 putter with only one-out-of-five for quality, performance and value.
"It was not well-weighted and had a terrible feel. I don’t know why it was brought on to the market," he said.
