Apart from maybe a mechanic repairing a wing with duct tape, there’s no more worrying sight when looking through an airplane window, minutes before take-off, than seeing your golf clubs being hurled into the hold.

It’s scary as your beloved irons and 300-yard driver are fired into the belly of the plane like hand-held Exocets by baggage handlers – whose job description tends to be an oxymoron.

I’ve discovered it’s worth spending the extra for a little more protection round your equipment – as well as an old wooden broomhandle to stuff in your bag that will deflect impact from your longest club.

During this holiday time, then, it’s appropriate that Titleist has developed an impressive travel range to help you get your golf equipment safely from A to B!

It’s ClubGlove travel cover has been tested extensively by Tour players to get the tools of their trade around the world in one piece. It has a reinforced high impact plastic base that extends up a third of the total height of the travel cover to offer additional strength and protection.

Inside there’s extra foam padding, padded zip-up shoe compartments and a clubhead security strap. It’s capable of holding a 10.5 wide Staff bag and has a two-piece integrated handle for added support. The ClubGlove is mounted on in-line skate wheels with bearings to make it more manoeuvrable during airport transfers. Recoimmended cost is £145.

The Titleist wheeled travel cover, with padded shoe compartments and in-line skate wheels, is slightly cheaper at £80. A wheeled duffel holdall costs £70.
