NEW: BEST GOLF HYBRIDS TEST 2015

In the ninth of our in-depth Club Test series, we survey ten top-end hybrids launched within the last 12 months at Weybrook Park Golf Club in Basingstoke.

About the test

Watch the video above to see how the Golfmagic Hybrids Test 2014 was conducted.

Golfmagic Assistant Editor Andy Roberts, 8-handicapper, and Charlie Lemay, off 12, trialled ten of the latest hybrids on the market in stiff flex, and were joined by Golfmagic readers Brian Tracy, off 5, and Rich Fitzpatrick, off 21.

After warming up for ten minutes on the superb grass practice range, Andy, Charlie, Brian and Rich each struck ten balls off the deck with each hybrid from the fairway, intermediate rough and first cut of rough. Each player therefore struck a total of 100 balls during the full day of testing. A Flightscope monitor was used on the range for each player to to learn their shot data with each hybrid.

All four testers then marked each hybrid out of five for appearance, out of ten for feel and out of ten for performance. (All four testers scored separately without consultation and the score presented for each hybrid is an average of the four). This generated an overall score out of 25 and the final scores and conclusion can be found on the last page of this feature.

With each hybrid, we have also provided details of set price, available lofts and standard shaft. The test was carried out in alphabetical order.
