Has anyone tried the K1 driver advertised on Sky Golf Channel, it seems a very good advert, but then you dont hear about the Pros using it, apart from Jacklin and Torrance. Any views

It's a piece of crap. Jacklin and Torrence are sell outs and wouldn't be seen dead playing it themselves. There are FAR better drivers out there for the money. You can get a Taylormade r5 brand new off ebay for just over £100 now just as an example.

Have a look around man, loads of quality drivers out there for that sort of cash. Pop down the golf shop and try some out.

 Selling a Brand
Over the years there has been a number of owners of the Slazenger company. It is probably fair to say that technology and China played a major part in the rise and fall of this famous brand. In the days when wooden tennis racquets held no peer brands such as Slazenger were a dominant force in the world.
With the popularity of the metal tennis racket from the early 1980s and then the fast transition to even more popular composite materials such as fiberglass, graphite, Kevlar and so on more and more brands became available to the consumer. These 'new' brands were more popular than the old, historic brands such as Slazenger. Add to this the rise in the quality of these products being produced and far cheaper in the East than anywhere else, Slazenger no longer could hold favour with the public. The brand slowly fell from grace, and as a result it became a target of companies who saw a future by having such an iconic brand in their stable.
* 1985 The Slazenger company is purchased by the BTR company (now Invensys) along with another famous sporting brand company, Dunlop Sport to form a new and for a number of years, quite successful company called Dunlop Slazenger.
* 1996 BTR sell its stake in Dunlop Slazenger in a MBO (management buyout) for £300million - the buyout was backed by investment company CINVen.
* 2004 CINVen sells Dunlop Slazenger to Sports World International for a reported £40million. Sports World International one of the fastest-growing companies in sports retailing, owns some of the biggest British sports brands - Slazenger, Dunlop, Carlton, Donnay and Lonsdale. In July 2005 they also took a major stake in Umbro.

So, there you go, a history of the slazenger brand. what was once one of the most respectable and quality brands is now on par with donnay, thanks to mr sports world.
The K1 is a donnay, but heavily marketed and 140 quid more.

A baloon on a stick - and sounds stupid. If you want to hit it straight without coaching get a Sumo2 or FTi.

 I'll get my ear defenders.

B*gger, I've got a £100 voucher for Golf TV..
get a swing setter or something, just dont waste your money on this s***e
Hmm, its looking that way.. :-)
The fact that neither Torrance nor Jacklin carry one of these in their bag should tell you everything - "it's ok to take money to endorse it but not good enough to actually use" seems to be the message.
Brian, Where did you get your vouchers. I'd like to send some to my enemies.
ooh that's just plain nasty Moppy.. :-)
Oddly enough I played on Tuesday and one of the lads was playing with a K1 and really liked it.
As a 24 H/capper I splashed out £80 (vouchers from the wife) on a Ben Sayers M2. Seems OK thus far!

Just in case anyone hasnt seen the other threads concerning this piece of rubbish.
Its non-conforming from 2008.
See the R&A web site.
How weird is that! The K1 is on the conforming AND non-conforming lists. I guess they must have two versions????
I'm going to contact JJB for some clarification (not that I've bought one of course I'm not that daft :D)
As an aside, I ordered a Northwestern +10 a while ago, (idiot I can hear you mutter). Duly arrived, but a Right handed version. Sent it back straight away and got credited (less my postage of course). Was I lucky ?. Anyone out there still use one ??.
Maybe you could get some magic beans for those vouchers Brian?
Just so long as you have a cow to throw in as well...
JE 5. Well ive had a look to check out what i was saying, and yes you are right, they do seem to have two models of this driver, 1 ok, 1 dodgy.
I think that says enough, do we really want to take the risk of buying rubbish, hopeing its the 'OK' model, well i think the majority would say NO.
Just buy a quality Calloway, TM etc, be sure, be safe and better off.

Yes I wasnt aware it was on non conforming list I thought the advert says it was legal.
But I dont like the news from the other thread that some heads slit !!!
