I have used Wilson Deep Red for quite a few years have tried the Ping G5 and didnt get any further distance or accuracy. As I was getting older I thought this double kick technology shaft might help

the k1 is 1 of the best drivers i have hit i am a low handicapper i am a strong hitter and the distance i got off it was unbelievable i hit the ball about 325 yards and i recommend the k1 to any golfer at any standard top of the range driver 5*
Whats that I can smell, oh yes bull**it. 325 yards my arse.
What does this mean? "I recommend the k1 to any golfer at any standard top of the range driver"
It's OK for you to recommend but remember to tell your customers that they cannot use it in comps from next year.
what cc size is the driver
You obviously no nothing about the driver. It's nothing to do with the cc that makes it illegal.

look fuc* off please any think under a 460cc is legel
Well Mr Hogan, i think language like that needs to be left were you came from, the gutter.
Its just not the cc, but the C.O.R too. And other technical peramiters of which i dont think a foul mouth like you would understand.
look i dont care what u say what i am getting at is i never said any thing about it been legel or illegel you got the hump with me when i said i liked it and i would recommend it to any one at any standard it was my opinion and you had no rite to say that what i was saying was bull shit i appoligise for my language but like i said it was my opinion
 Apology fully accepted. Cheers

God I actually believed it could help me being old etc la la with the kick shaft etc however Im very wary ref the list is it legal or not and does it split very often I dont care what some experts say I do believe different clubs suit different people as I tried the Ping G5 and actually hit it worse than my original Wilson Deep Reds
As I am the competitons secretary for my golf club I have had to contact the R&A about some rule decisions I shall email them and ask about the 2 K1 drivers is there a legal and an illegal one and which one is which. Will kep you posted if you know more than me please let me know

I bought a Slazenger(laugh!) K1 for £120 on eBay and used it for 3 months. Playing off 5 at age 71(I USED to be 6 strokes better) I have to say that I found it went really rather well, quite a good distance, very straight- in fact it was extremely difficult to SHAPE a drive. However the shaft felt good and was very stable. It did make a horrid noise!
However, when I had the chance of buying a brand-new Adams Dual 460 with an Aldila 65 NVS regular shaft on eBay for £80 delivered-RRP=£199 I could not resist-particularly as I sold the K1 for the same amount.
The Adams did everything the K1 did but MUCH,MUCH better-15-20 yards further, better feel, better sound, could vary the flight etc.
However, I just cannot join in the general condemnation of the K1. All the adverse comments SHOULD be aimed at the North-Western Plus 10. Now there IS a piece of CRAP!!
^^ I fail to see how you can defend the K1 if a Driver you can buy for £80 can outperform it when it sells for nearly double.(RRP is not important as nobody ever pays that)
To my mind I simply would not buy it no matter what it was like as that would simply endorse those dreadful adverts on the Golf Channel and encourage them to make more. Simply do away with all those and show us more old footage of Sam Snead !
Knotty, it is admittedly not easy to defend the K1 on price as its RRP is ludicrously high even considering that-as you say-no-one buys a club these days if he knows anything about golf. For example, the Benross V12 at £99 makes the K1 look like a STEAL- with JJB Sports doing the stealing!!
I just believe that the K1s PERFORMANCE from my experience in using one for a while is very far removed from a Donnay and light years removed from the North Western Plus 10, probably the biggest try-on or con ever visited on the golfing population!

Knotty, oops, sorry, meant to say in my previous post after "these days" the words "at the listed RRP"

Ive just received letter back from R&aA ref conformity of K1 after 2008 see below
Dear Mr Rimmer
I refer to your e-mail below and I would confirm that there are two different versions of the K1 – in both the 10 degree and the Ladies 12 degree.
The marking which distinguishes the two versions is the ‘K1’ on the face. Those clubs with ‘K1’ on the face are on the non-conforming List and those without ‘K1’ on the face are on the Conforming List.
Both versions of the left handed club are on the Conforming List.
I hope this helps to clarify the situation, but if you do have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely

I am still confused what to buy as I said before Ive tried the Ping G5 but didnt hit it as far as my original Deep Red. So what if it doesnt look as good as a Taylor Made etc sure its the resukt that suits the individual thats important.

mr rimmer
Have you tried the k1 driver yet? If not then i would advise you to go to your local golf pro shop, and ask if you may try it and see for your self. If you get on with it then your choice! i have also tried the ping G5 and i could not get on with that. this is my advise i do hope NO one takes it the wrong way like they have done in the past.frogmella
thank you

Gordon - I had a original deep red, & got on well with it. So much so that it is still in my house in Spain, for occasional use when I'm out there. I have tried the Ping, a couple of Cobras, & in the end have gone back to a smaller headed driver, the original R7 quad. From Ebay for £70.
Each to his own, but the only way to be sure is to test both clubheads, & shafts.

I'm new to the golf world and will welcome any advice on purchasing a reasonable priced driver
