Well, just paypalled the money to Derek for my SG3, couldn't resist.

BoB, this had better be good coz I based this impulse purchase on your recommendation. Plus the fact my home course, and many others I play locally, all seem to be fully mapped with the 4 stars.

good decision, and next time you play in Spain you will be able to play in yards and not have to convert to meters, thats usually another reason for not being able to tame those Spanish courses.

do you have to wait to get that from the US?
I dont understand whether he has them here in the UK or not.

Al,

You like your gadgets, just like me....you'll love it.

Not sure if anyone has pointed out the difference between the SG3 and the SG4 to you yet, so I'll tell you.

Basically, they are exactly the same unit apart from the power. The SG3 uses AA batteries and the SG4 has a battery built in that has to be charged before play.

That's it.

You'll not regret it Al.

Hi

I've used a friends sureshot and found it superb, made a big difference for me, takes all the doubt away.

He's requested a few courses and the company have added most of them free of charge.

If I could spare the cash I'd buy one, the SG3 does look good, but are enough UK courses mapped (it wants a registration to look on the website it seems?

Lee,

Try http://www.skygolf.com

If you go onto Browse Courses you should be able have a look through without having to register

And lets not forget that the Skycaddie courses are mapped on foot by Professionals not taken from ariel photos, all of the other GPS systems use either ariel or google earth, these maps cannot be as accurate as the Skycaddie, and most will be out of date.
WHY DO YOU LINK THE PROs and PGA USE THE SKYCADDIE!!

I got 3 left at this price, just shipped out 3 more this morning. If you dont have one get one, these are the BOMB. The best feature to me it the tracking of the distance you hit your drives. Hit your drive, press the MARK button, walk to your drive, hit the MARK button again. Gives to the total distance you hit the drive.. Pretty cool.

yES THAT IS GOOD,I HAVE BEEN OUT OVER THE WINTER IN A FIELD WITH MY 5,6,7,8,9,AND WEGES GETTING THE REAL LENGTH OF MY SHOTS USING THIS FEATURE, START AT ONE END THEN MEASURE THEN HIT BACK AND SO ON, GREAT WAY TO PRACTICE.

Would be good if some one could do a review of the Skycaddie instead of the Caddy which is now no longer made.

With all these prodcuts out there Sureshot, Skycaddie, Bushnell etc etc has anyone checked which is approved for use under R & A rules??? playing on Saturday & talking with my pro - he said that anything that gave more information than just distance is illegal for use in Comp. ie the new Bushnell gives elevation etc which is ok in practice but not in comp. and he believes that the Sureshot that can be programmed by you to suggest a club would also be illegal!!! or at least not in the spirit of the game was his words....interesting !!! I just got my club to agree to allow us to use them in comp. I don't want them to change their minds. The committee is so freaked by change! But then it wasn't that long ago I guess some clubs wouldn't allow woman! OK WELL MAYBE PROGRESS ISN'T SO GOOD!! only joking!!!!!

By the way - I meant to ask - has anyone had a tough time getting the committee to agree to allow the use of rangefinders??
if so let me know and I will tell you what me and my pals told em!!!
Show/hide user stats
It's true that bushnell do two 1500 rangefinders, one of which has an inclinometer that adjusts the distance to the flag by factoring the slope this is the one that is illegal.

I've got a Skycaddie on order but just had a horrible thought... my new computer is running Microsoft Vista, does anyone know if the Skycaddie software is compatible?
I can see a big problem coming my way!

Derek i might be interested to get one the end of next week, I`ve just sold an expensive mountain bike and looking for a skycaddie.
But is anyone worried about the warranty side of this. anyone
Show/hide user stats
Brom,

The Skycaddies are NOT Vista compatible.

The usb drivers refuse to install and hence the unit is not recognised.

Luckily, I have an XP laptop!

I have raised this with Skycaddie UK and they are chasing it up with their US counterparts

Paul C,

I can only surmise that this is a mischievous post on your part..as you have actively contributed to the other thread where the differences in UK and US warranties were being discussed.

To summarise:

According to Skycaddie UK

Only UK supplied units are warrantied by the UK organisation.

US units (and they can tell via the serial number) even if an extended warranty is purchased when registering, will be honoured by the US company, meaning the unit will likely have to be returned to the US for any warranty work.

YES JOHN YOUR RIGHT but I`DE LIKE TO KNOW IF OTHERS ARE WORRIED BY THE WARRANTY ON THIS ITEM THAT ALL.
lOOKS I`VE MISSED THAT DEAL WITH THE FIRST 3 TO REPLY COZ IT ENDS TODAY WITH SKYCADDIE UK.
AND THERE IS NO WAY I`M PAYING OVER THE ODS IN THIS COUNTRY WARRANTY OR NOT.

Paul,

I don't know how many people replied..why not mail them and see?

Nothing ventured nothing gained!
