Andrew,

Interesting - for a match that I was supposed to be playing today (until the weather intervened!) I had offered to lend my Geek to a friend who had heard from Boa and myself about how well they work for us. Since I would be without my Geeks, I dusted off my old Nike SQ woods and took them down to the range. last week.....couldn't get on with them very well at all.  Bearing in mind that I used to think that they were the dog's doodahs, and in June of last year used them to shoot 80 at Machynys the first time that I played the course, then either I've changed or...no, that's it, actually.  Totally different flight off the Geeks and one that works better for me.  As is always the case, each to their own.

Southern softies.

I took the DCT out on Saturday fully fit and had my best ever day with it on a windy day

As I have said before you can only judge against the conditions and playing partners and I melted one down the first about 40 yds in front of the others.Nice and solid all the way round to the 10th which was about 350 wind behind, firm conditions.About 50 yds from the green is a greenkeepers track which we call the Melling Rd and noone from our group has ever reached it.My ball bounced over the road to about 25 yds short(still only made 4).Finished up with a monster up 18 again 20 yds past the others into the wind. The penetration into the wind is outstanding and I have figured that you still need to concentrate and hit the middle of the club for the big shots as I can really feel if it is hit off centre.Enthusiastic -yes

Hold on there Dyna.

"Southern softies"?  It's bad enough getting grief for being a Scouser without taking someone else's bad rep as well!

And I was out on Saturday, that was no problem. Monday morning however...different gravy, and not nice at all.

just shafted a Geek DCT 5-wood with an aldila NVS 65 in stiff

took it down the range last night....very impressive performance.... might have to investigate one of the Drivers....just as an experiment!

my DCT with the aldila proto 65g stiff has been an eye opener for me. feels very light and have gained in both distance and direction. Can't seem to slice the thing as even my slice swing only generates what I like to call a "power fade"

I have no problems with trajectory as I have a 12 degree head

Oh good, you're just what this board needs, a moronic WUM.   Marvellous.

With all the hype I am tempted to give one of these things a hit. Anyone have a loaner or demo available?

With that shaft its illegal in comps. I sold mine or I would have lent you one for a dem.  I sold it because the head was 11.5 degrees and ashould have been 10 and the Encore was longer.

The Geeks are very fussy with shafts imo, they have a high cog and are not for everyone, you really do need swingspeed to use them well.  I still have one, and a Bang 460 and an SMT Encore, they are get used in equal measure. I love my Geek DCT 3 wood, with an Acculuanch 80, that will never leave the bag

Need a bit of advice Wormburner, although I'm hitting my DCT 12* stiff Creation combo very well, and more consistant than my DCT 10.5* with a Harrison Pro 2.5 stiff shaft, the trajectory is still a little high. I might be splitting hairs trying to get the ultimate driver for myself, but do you think that swapping the shafts over would still give me the consistancy, and lower my ball flight with the Creation / 10.5*, or is it more complex than that, and I should maybe leave well alone and settle for what I've got.

Some might say, just do it and see what happens, but if I don't get good pulls and I lose a shaft, it might be expensive for no gain, so to speak. What do you think?

Impossible to say matey without looking at your swing and watching the ball.  Imo the Creation is a great shaft and nowhere near as stiff as the Evolution,  but too high may well be the loft, if your angle of attack is say 2 degrees up you will in effect be hitting a 14 degree driver, even in a low spinning head like the DCT 14* will spin  a ball to much for a higher swing speed player. Try moving it mack an inch, raising your right shoulder, just messing with launch angles and see what happens.  What matters is what happens to the ball, you want to maximise carry AND the roll.  The first thing I would do is hit a lower spinning ball on the course, take a few out on your own and see if that does anything.

Myself and Pureforged disagree on shaft deflection,he believes its upto 10 degrees, turning your 12 to possibly 22, I totally disagree. Tom Wishon and others have tested this and found that shaft/tip deflection will add 2 degrees max, so pulling the Creation may be pointless, I can't see how a stiff Creation can be the problem here.  Its gotta be the loft and/or combined with an upwards angle of attack.

If you can't figure it out, get a 10 degree DCT and put the Creation in it, only way to find out.  Yu can gte a head only for 50 quid on Ebay I think, you will get 30 for yours at least.

Wormburner I just love the Creation, and I also think it's slightly too much loft on the head. It's not as if I'm not getting plenty of yards, (I'm not going to say how far on here) but I'm no different to a lot of other golfers, if there's a few more going lets be having them.

I'm in a very good seam at the moment, so I think I'll wait until my next dodgy spell and change them round then. Thanks for the reply.

Played in the Alliance today, 3 under after 3 holes, (BB) then it was abandoned, what a shame as we seemed to be up for it in the bad weather. Mind you Wormburner,  I'm sensible enough to know a good score can soon become average in this game.

With your swing speed its most likely just to much loft and thus to much spin, I doubt a different ball with do anything. I would go for a 9* tbh and see what happens.
