Guys,

I really need you to help me out with a new Stand Bag.

The remit is, durable, subdued colouring, must be able to cope with a full set + luggage, plenty features and comfortable to carry.

Budget is £50 (I know, I know)

So if anyone else has been here can you let me learn from you experiences?

Thanks, as always.

There was a post about stand bags jsut the other day with loads of comments i suggest you take a second and find that one and take a read.

Here you go Happytab

Stand bags

I still stand by my recommendation of the Izzo Easy - an absolute steal @ £50 the best strap system, sturdy zips and rivets as well as stitching on all main stress points.

.... if you can still get one.

Thanks Taz,

What features does the Izzo have - number of pockets etc ? The website does not have many details.

Thanks again.

8 way full length dividers - seven pockets, inc. one for a bottle and a valuables lined pouch.

Plenty of room, deep and useful pockets - not a hell of a lot different to my cart bag in capacity.

Are you sponsored by Izzo Taz? Just after reading the magazine review thread I don't trust anyone anymore...

If your budget is £50 I would say it has to be the TM Essex - think they're going for around £40/50 at the moment

Monkeytaff - I'm not sponsored by anyone

I do believe in banging on about real bargains that I and others find through this site.

You can pay £20 just for the strap system - which will fit other bags and are fitted as standard to most top range golf bags. So to get an Izzo bag with the strap system for 50 notes is a bargain - yes?

Oh - and well done in the rugby - being an honorary Welshman -  I lived in Bridgend for 17 years (wife and kids are Welsh) it is great to see them playing so well.

Taz,

What is the difference (In your opinion) between the Izo Easy and this Izo Augusta ?

Thanks

Happytab

just responded to your request via ebay for info on the wilson staff performance carry bag,

im well impressed with it for the money, does exactly what it says on the tin!!

Show/hide user stats

Alan,

Thanks for that - I just wonder about durability, and that big handle - does it get in the way of the clubs ?

Also, what material is it made off - I can't quite work it out from the photo's.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

that "big"handle is brilliant, it acts as a divider to stop your driver and 3 wood clunking together and when you only have to move forward a few paces, several tines with my chipping!!, it is just "there", no looking for it, and seems to add to the robustness of the bag. as i said only used it for 18 holes, and it seems ideal, but as for durability won't be able to let you know till this time next year!!! At £48 inc delivery what more can you ask for, but then again i am a wilson staff fan, i play di7 irons and deep red woods!!

Alan, I play Di7's too - that's what drew me to this bag in the first place.

What colour did you go for?

I can't make up mty mind about anyhting.

i went for the blue, wanted gunmetal but dithered and missed out on that one.

found the bumph which was attached to bag

as for material it is:

Nanolan 200d??

PU Dimple brushed chrome

polyester twill 300

70% nylon

20% polyester

10% PU??

the 6 way dividers are all full length

it has the swivelmax carry strap sysyem , as i said very comfy to carry

it was on the golf digest hot list recommended

hope this helps and makes sense to you

Alan

I've backed Taz up on this one before with Izzo bags.  I have had one for over 5 years and it is still going strong.  Very light, very durable and I have carried a full set, waterproofs, the obligatory (in Scotland) hip flask and FAR too many balls.

And don't be put off if it looks fragile, believe me it isn't as the fact that mine  has no problems at all despite some serious abuse.

And on top of it all, Izzo pioneered the dual strap system and I still believe theirs is the best.

Hi Happytab.Just seen that you are on the lookout for a stand bag.Have you looked on the Sports HQ web site.Quite a few bags on it.They are doing a 2 for 1 at the moment.Suppose its worth a look

All just to let you know that I opted for the Wilson in the End - will hopefully be delivered in a couple of days - I have the feeling that the Izzo would have been more durable and that the Wilson might not last more then a couple of years but in the end it came down to not being able to see the Izzo in the colour I would have gone for and like Alan, I am a Wilson Brang hoar.

So thanks again for your help. It really is appreciated.

Taz, special thanks to you, you almost got me to go Izzo - in the end it was a coin flip. Thanks anyway.

I have a Callaway XTT Warbird stand bag and have found it to be brilliant. Light (3.5lbs),7 full length dividers, 7 pockets (inc cooler & soft lined valuables) It even stood up in the strong winds monday and today. It came with an Izzo dual shoulder strap which is also very good, You can now buy this bag (06 model) for less than £45 (less with a good haggle) outstanding value for money in anyones eyes!!

So, I got my new standbag (Wilson Staff Performance - think it was an 06 model).

First impressions are mixed.

Build quality looks only ok, I have doubts that the plastic clips that the swivelmax strap systems uses to connect to the bag will last but lets see.

Two bugbears,

Firstly the bag does not stand up straight (without the stand activated) like my old bag used to. This is useful for storage when you dont want the stand activated. It overbalances and needs to be rested against something.

Secondly, The 8" x 8" top seems a little tight for 14 clubs - I will have to experiment here but after just throwing the clubs in they are not travelling easily in and out of the bag.

I will try and post an update after a few rounds as this sort of information is useful to anyone else looking at these bags.
