Thanks for the offer, but at that price i would rather bend it over my knee the next time it misbehaves.........it may cost me money but what joy

Now thats just being selfish! Try Christies? If you really think its worth something.

I think for it to be worth any money it needs to have the slazengar logo under the bottom part of the grip, this is because slazenger made the first ping putters otherwise phone ping and quote the serial number and they would be able to tell you its value

If you type it into ebay, youll see the "going rate" for your putter.

I had a shock a few years ago when I saw a similar putter to my late fathers on Ebay for £800 odd - his was also a Slazener Ping Anser from early 70's - it has been retired now. I wish I had never had it regripped as this may have affected its value. I could never sell it for sentimental reasons but remember my father commenting on its expense back then.

The original Ping putters dont say "Ping" on the back they say Karsten. My mate has one and had it valued about 5 years ago at £2-300.

Mark,
I know it is a little late, but I think I can answer your question. the Ping Anser zip code 85068 was manufactured on or after 1989, it is approximately worth $50 US dollars. The question is what is the Pat. number as this will help date the head. If is is a Pat. Pend. is was likely manufactured after 1982. If it has a Pat. # D207227 it was manufactured after 1967 and before the above date. Anyhoo, hope this helps and this is my first post, I just found the site.

Mark - enjoy your trip to Skegness, I hear it's just like Florida at this time of year.

If it is an Anser 85068 hold on to it as it is pretty much common place here. Now as a collector on your 85068 next to the "CORP" will be a "mold number". If that nember is a 7 people seem to pay alittle more as to the "luck" involved.

If the Ping is an Anser 2 and made of BeCu or BeNi your looking at $175 tp $250, approximately.

You can ask ping.
The really valuable ones were made in Scotsdale (I think) , but then Ping moved to Phoenix.
I had a similar question with a Ping cushin putter.
Whatever its value now it will either stay the same or increase so hang on to it.
There is a UK phone number for Ping on their website

Ping will assist you in answering any questions. I bought (on Ebay) a "your Guide to Classic Ping Anser Putters" by DETETCO. They also sell some of their putters that have be reconditioned. The guide is a help in answering every if not all questions about the ANSER series putter and the history behind the putter.

P.S. the sellers name on Ebay is DETETCO

The authority is www.pongman.com, go here: http://www.pongman.com/index3.htm for yours, and I expect he (Dalton R. Daves) wrote the book someone referred to. You will have to use IE to access his site as it does not work with FF, well mine at least.

Jim,

You are slightly wrong, they also used Karsten on the version 3s 85029

John

Its a rare putter and condition will dictate value, and its best sold on Ebay with postal cost to the US.Its not as rare as the Gary Playr Slazengers, but collectors will pay good money for a mintah,
