LoCo yes you can trick it and really wreck your swing

Thanks Ant, you probably can see this next question a mile off...

So how do you know if you are doing it right if the setter does the same thing whether its used correctly or not?

I really want one of these, but i would hate the after thought that i had grooved a bad swing whilst thinking i was helping my game (easily done?).

There are all sorts of excersises to stop you doing it wrong and the plane pointer in the end of the grip is the chief component in making sure your plane is right.

I've got to be honest I rely on a combo of the swing setter and a momentus swing trainer to get it all right.

Once I've watched the DVD I'm sure I'll be better equipped to use just the swing setter.

My distance and accuracy has increased although I get the occasional push shot with my irons (coming too far inside and leaving the face open).

Thanks Ant, i'll have to get one i think, it may just compliment what im trying to achieve (a better swing).

I push my irons now and then also, usually if i take the club back a bit quicker and get inside as a result, one of my many bad habits im correctly slowly, i guess the tempo leanred from using the swingsetter may help this, my tempo is pretty good just now and then i get all macho, fast and jerky when lookinf for extra yardage.

Ant. To be honest, I do exactly the same, using the Swingsetter AND a momentus type swing trainer together (not at the same time obviously) to compliment each other, as well as having a normal club to hand as well, to swing between changing from one to the other in the hope that it will further ingrain the feeling. It worked well the previous two nights, but something happened at the range tonight, but I'm putting that down to the crap balls and mats at a different range I was at. (Have to blame it on something, and it's not me. lol)

Ive hit range balls that do things that deny physics...

Im yet to ever see a ball on the course behave like some range balls do.

I wouldnt read too much into your bad night ;)

Its hard to not get frustrated though. With each ball with a mind of its own, my tempo increased, and I got madder and madder. Things didn't get much better however. About 10 really sweet shots, 10 or so ok shots, and the rest were bloody awful. Problem is, I have a society outing on Friday, and I can't go out like this. I'll have another go tomorrow.

I do know what you mean however about those balls. I'm sure the range have just got new ones in that don't go nearly as far. I usually hit my 7 iron to the 150yd marker. Tonight, a 3iron just about got there. This was with little wind. Something very strange, cos I know it wasn't me. My cousin found the same problem. Bloody cheapskates!!!!

At my range i hit a 5i as far as i do a driver with the balls supplied, they all seem to go the same distance then just die.

If you've got a dozen cheap balls and a football pitch/playing field nearby i suggest going there with a 8i and see how that goes... dont play off the footy pitch but from behind the lines obviously, dont want any red cards ;)

Colin I had one of those nights at the range then had a really good round at the weekend so do not worry about it.

Cheers Ant. Hopefully I've used up all my bad shots last night. ;o)

It's amazing how the situation makes you hit balls differently. I hit balls very badly on the range and yes they all seem to die before the 200 marker.

Back at the club we have a nice practice ground with three flags at one end and a small raise green surrounded by big trees at the other.

To play long shots to the three flags you can play from behind the green with the trees overhead. From the other end it's a wide open shot running up to the green.

For some reason I hit much better shots back up to the green. It is a much more inviting target though tight by course standards and it seems to encourage a good shot. The complete opposite of the range experience.

It just shows that in a half hour practice session you can have some very differing experiences. On the range you don't have that option and so it can be very harmful to your temperament if you find you're not hitting well on a Friday before a match.

Got my Swing Setter in this morning from Golf Online.Unwrapped the parcel packaging to get to the actual box.No sign of a DVD.Got the number to phone Golf Online ready for a barny and it went onto answer machine, even madder now.

I hadn't opened the box of the swing setter as I didn't want to damage it as I was sending it straight back to the useless feckers.Thought sod it, opened the box(Which is impossible dimensionally to fit a DVD)and low and behold there's the MINI Disc DVD.Thank god nobody answered that phone call as I think I may have looked a bit of a Tit!

I was watching the golf channel last night and it amazed me to see Trevor Immelman using a swingsetter device!
The funny part was, David Leadbetter never once mentioned how good it was, how much it cost and where to get it. I have a funny feeling that all his pros use this device.

It certainly makes me want to get one all the more

I understand the issue about quick wrist cock. Leadbetter says this the wrists should start at the 8 o'clock position (as the butt of the club goes past the right side thigh*). It should be fully set by the 9 oclock position (Left arm parrallel to the ground*) So it is pretty quick. *Right hand player.

I must admit it is possible to snap the ball by flicking the wrist, In fact on the DVD Leadbetter is seen to do so when demonstrating the Swingsetter.

I feel the setting should be set low, when the upper ball can be snapped between 8/9 oclock position by a smooth backswing. The setting should only be increased if it snaps before the 8 oclock position with a smooooth takeaway.
