I recently Respiked my Cheap and Chearful Winter shoes with New Spikes bought from DGolf, Black Widow or whatever they are called..
Then i Decided to Buy some new DryJoy Pros which are Beautiful, But Have far Superior Grip, upon looking at the Spikes, they are different from any other Spikes ive Seen and kinda have a ball on the End of each prong..
Anyoen know where you can buy these as my Winter shows slip like Crazy with these Cheap Black Widow Spikes in...

best to take the soft spikes out in the winter and put old fashioned metal spikes in, will cost you about £7 from AGD, much better grip, and dont clog up, your head greenkeeper probably wont be very happy though ;), but less chance of slipping and busting a bone...

These Spikes in the Dryjoys Are Awesome... rock Solid...
I think ive found out what they Are, I think they Are the Pulsar variety..

I want to change my soft spikes for the winter, but metal spikes all sem to have the thread fitting. Anyone know if metal spikes are made in quickfit(?) green fittings?
 Green Fittings are "Fast Twist"
Not sure if you can get metal Ones in this Fitting...
But im telling you these New Pulsar Ones are Fantastic.. If i can find them, I will Buy them!!

When you mentioned a ball on the end of a spike it took me back to when i had some Footjoy dryjoys 6-7yrs ago and they had metal spikes with a tungsten (i think) ball on, and they lasted as long as the shoes which was about 4 1/2 yrs quality shoes.
You should really be looking to wear metal spike in these conditions as softies tend to slip a little and could become dnagerous , have seen some courses haveing signs in the recomending people change as they have been reports of people getting injured... Mind you they might just be covering ther asses in this comp claim mad country..

Cheers Robj, Just bought Some Had to spend £50 to get free Shipping.... So bought myself a Footjoy Windtop to go with em lol..
Ginny.. My Dryjoys which have these babys pre-installed Work great, But there White and i dont fancy getting them all Muddy every Week...
So i`ll Try these in my Greenjoys and See how they Go.. Most courses dont like Metal Spikes these days...
Paul.

Robj yes you can buy metal spikes with fast twist fittings, they are almost half the price of the plastic cleats.
Paul i have yet to play any course that does not allow metal spikes. I dont understand why they dont like them.
Brian I know several in Derbyshire that dont allow metal spikes Kedleston Park for one they even turned down the chance to host a junior national event because of this.
Just played this Morning with my Old Greenjoys and was slipping all over the place on the muddy Tee Boxes, Lets hope the Spikes dont take long to come!!

I still have Black Widow soft spikes in my Dryjoy PRO's and don't have any problems with grip. I can't see the reason for putting metal spikes in.
maybe its just the Dryjoys themselfs then that give the extra Grip? ie Cleat position etc.... Ps.. Did u put the Black widows in yourself? or are they fairly Old?
As the new ones come with the Pulsar Spikes.. which is what ive just Ordered..
Paul.
They are the same ones that were in when I bought them over a year ago.
Just a Quick Update on this, Played Yesterday with the New Pulsar Spikes in my GreenJoys and They Were Superb, They was Much Better than the Older Softspikes that I had bought Previously, Which were Back Widows..
At last there seams a Decent Affordable Alternative to Metal Spikes in Winter..

Anyone tried the Stinger pro's? think that's what they're called. I don't like the standard one's but with the spike in the middle, could work well.
Yes..Stinger pros...Lost 3 on the first round! Waste of money. Also, as they have the 3 soft spikes around each steel spike they still clog somewhat. Back to tradional steel spikes for me!
