Hi All,

I'm looking for a nice sturdy tavel cover for my golf clubs. I am looking for a cover that will take my shoes and also offer good protection for my clubs. Some of them I have seen look very flimsy. I am needing one for taking my clubs abroad.

Anyone got a good one?

Steve

These guys make bags for the US Military - I have had both a hard cover and the semi - rigid one called a hard top. Very happy with the hard top - its been a quite a few trips and no mishaps.

you also get a guarantee.

Some more details on the hard top case, incidently you can get a big single stand bag in or when the wife and I go away together we get 2 x mizuno weekender stand bags in (6").

I used SKB cases for all my guitar gear when gigging and its rock solid but not too heavy

For travelling to spain i got the travel bag that is £20 from thegolfhq. Its not rigid - but use a broomhandle and some towels to protect your driver and you're fine.
The only thing missing from it is a shoulder strap but that's only coz i was doing a 3 stop trip across london on the way back to glasgow that i missed that.

The SKB has an extendable rod that supports the driver.

Steve... not sure of your situation but be aware that hard cases do have downsides. I used to have a hard plastic carrier originally but when I arrived at my destintation I found it didn't fit in many hire cars as it was too long. And folding the seats down only worked if there were not too many of you in the car.
Got a soft case now so at arrival I can take the clubs out which 'only just' fit in most cars then fold the bag away.
Looked at hiring a people carrier or an estate on one holiday but with the money I saved on a normal hatchback it paid for the soft carrier.
Got myself a mizuno travel bag, it's been excellent and has wheels, got a very tough cordura outer, rubberised base, and a padded inner that wraps around your clubs.
Don't go for the titleist soft bag, my brother had one and on a flight to tenerife it must have got tangled in the baggage machinery and the nylon got shredded and ripped. He had a hell of a job for the airline to accept responsibility (It was a split flight and each carrier blamed the other)...

My Hard top also folds into itself (top half has an inner hard shell, bottom half is like military grade waterproof canvas - very sturdy). From memory I think it was £120ish, maybe more - expensive compared to some of the noddy ones most people use. Quality comes at a price I guess. Lots of room for balls, clothes and your shoes.

P.S. its also got a handle on top and wheels at the bootm so dragging it around is easy.

If you google 'TRAVEL-TEK™ HARD TOP BAG' you will find lots of reviews on the web, seems to retail at $150 over there.

This is what the blurb says:
The Travel-Tek HardTop is a fully padded case with a reinforced top providing 18" of hardshell protection for your club heads. The HardTop can accommodate drivers up to 50" in length. The Stiff Arm, which comes standard, condenses to 18" for storage, but expands to 50" so that any direct blow that a luggage handler may deliver to the clubs is absorbed by the stick, thus protecting your clubs' heads and shafts.
Accommodate drivers up to 50" in length
The bottom 2/3 of the bag to stuff into the lid for compact storage
Smooth-rolling glide wheels
Oversized suitcase pocket for clothing and a second exterior pocket for accessories
All pockets will accept a consumer supplied lock for added security
Unzips 270 degrees to allow for easy golf bag storage and removal
Free stiff arm included

When the wife (and twins) and I go on holiday, I normally fill it with two 6" stand bags and clubs, 2 x golf shoes, 4 dozen balls and a tonne of nappies.
