Hi All

I am at the point of bying my first irons . Been playing only for 2months, and having a lesson every 2 weeks .
Tried many irons from the clubs [driving range only] .

As i didnt have the chance to get an answer about the Snake Eyes TC-01 , my second choice for my first set of irons are the Mizuno MX-15.
Didnt find much on this site about them, but a lot more on others.(sites..!)

My question is , are they a good choice to buy specially since the prices are down [ £269 on Direct golf UK] ?

Secondly , they do custom fitting [over the net!] . Is it worth it to take the option or can i just buy standard set ?

I'm 6'1 with 29' from tip of fingers to floor.

Thanks for your help and comments on this.

Regards .Gilles

Go for the Miz. check if there is a Direct Golf retail outlet near you, they should adjust them for you.

I'd tend to agree although Snake Eyes are good irons, I've hit a few irons into nets at Direct Golf, but still prefer my Mizuno Pro 2's.

As for fitting...I can't see how fitting over the net would give you an accurately set up set of clubs. What's important is how the sole of the club strikes the ground when hitting the ball and not at address. Too much toe or too much heel and the club fitter can make the relevant adjustments but trying to do this over the net won't work.

If you can drive to Direct Golf for custom fitting then I would suggest it's worth it.

The mx-15s are great clubs - my first round with my new ones knocked 10 strokes off my usual score. Admitedly I had only been playing for 3 months and it could have been down to improving swing and confidence in the new clubs. I got a price of £299 (3-PW) from the net and took it to American Golf. They did me them for £310 (3-SW) instead of their usual £369. Maybe try this at your local pro shop as they'll custom fit you there.(although some shops won't price match internet prices)

Thank you all,

I went this morning to American Golf , and tried (again) the MX-15 .
After a while the young sales-guy ask me....bla bla bla... told him that Direct Golf sell them for £269.

He went to check the net , spoked to his manager , and sold them for that price .

The custom fitting is included . Got the sand ewdge for £30 instead of £55 on top.

The surprising thought is ,they told me to try them ,see if still like them , and then have them fitted for me . ...Or give them back !!??

Ask if it was a joke and the answer was : AG is a big company...

Thanks again all. Will let you know how i get on .

Regards. Gilles

Well done Giles ,I'm 6,4 and the standard lie is fine on MX20 and remember Faldo is over six foot himself and uses clubs an inch shorter than standard.

Gilles

Be very careful, recently bought a driver from one the big suppliers, supposed trial period given.
After 3 weeks i questioned this trial period as i wanted to try the club with a different shaft in it, i was asked had i used the club, if so then sorry we can't do anything.
If a trial period is stated, then yes I am going to try the club as anyone would to ensure that everything is ok.
I know we should all try before hand but with my SS i was between shaft flexes and picked the wrong one..

Becareful.
