I just bought a Titleist 906 15 degree 3w with the Titleist Reg shaft. Only taken it out once but so far so good. Nice feel to the club. I tried a few 3 woods on the range deciding, and the Callaway x3 and the Titleist were streets ahead of the others. The titleist is much easier to hit than my previous Callaway 3+ steel head.

There is no "best" 3wood, depends on so many factors, but if you are looking for a general purpose 3W and don't have anything in mind the TM Vsteel is worth trying out, originals are now very cheap, and haven't really been bettered.
I have a Mizuno F-50 with a steel shaft and absolutely love it. Some reviews have said that its not the easiest to hit or most forgiving but I cant say that I've found that at all. I have been using it off the tee more and more recently with little loss of distance and alot more accuracy. If you look around you can pick them up for about £50 at the minute.

Best 3-wood is a 14° TaylorMade Dual.

Swapped my numerous 3-woods (and I had some good'uns) for the Dual. Instant improvement in ball-striking, accuracy, and no loss of distance. I find it much easier to hit consistently (due the shorter, thicker shaft) and it's also very versatile, e.g. out of the rough too.

Today after my round , the course was nearly empty so i went back to the tee of the straightest fairway par 5.  I hit my G5 driver first as a bench mark to compare the others against.

I then hit my Cleveland Launcher 13 degree 3 wood, TM rescue Mid 16 degree and TM rescue dual 22 degree.

 I hit every shot well..........................

20 yards behind my driver was the 16 degree rescue, 10 yards behind that was the 3 wood and 5 behind that was the 22 degree.

I was surprised of the results so did it again but from the fairway, minus the driver as the G5 does not like to be hit from the deck......................

The results again were 16 degree, 3 wood then 22 degree.

So on arrival at home the 3 wood was removed and i'll just carry driver, 16 degree and 22 degree.

So the 'BEST' 3 wood really is a hybrid (for me anyway!!)

I have a TM burner which I really love. I only ever hit it off the tee though - I use my hybrid for any long distance grass based shenanigans.
