Hello, i would like to ask for peoples

thoughts on the taylormade rescue mid

club. Is it any good? I would like to

know if you can shape shots, drop and

stop on greens, is it long or short,

easy to hit e.t.c. Any advice would be

much appreciated.

Thankyou

i have bought a rescue mid 3, sames as an 2 iron with a steel shaft. I t does take some getting used to and with all the hype the temptation to left your head up to see the ball is tempting but if you stay with the shot and hit thrugh the ball the club gives excellent results. It is also very good for chip and runs around the green when you have a small amunt of fringe/fough to get the ball over and a putter would not do the job.

saying that i would recommennd you take both the graphite versions and steel onto the driving range before delving into your pocket as it is a marmite club, ie either love it or hate it! but saying that with practise it should be a very easy club to hit!

James,

I like the Rescue Club. The way it sits behind the ball seems to give confidence and the relatively short shaft gives control and makes it easy to swing. I have the graphite shaft 3 and my wife has the same in a 4. Since I bought it I have hardly used my 3 iron although I bought it to use where others may use a 5 wood. I hit it about 200 yards. A number of pros are using this club so I guess if you are good enough you may be able to shape it. Off my 13 handicap I am pleased if I can hit it relatively straight!

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and got a lot of useful answers. Consequently I bought one of these clubs and think it is excellent. It feels great, offers a high trajectory and delivers a really solid hit to the ball. One word of warning though, these go further than their iron equivalents. So a 3 iron rescue club goes c15-20 yards futher than my traditional 3 iron. I don't know what the make up of your bag is - I carry a 19 degree 5 wood and felt that the 3 iron rescue club went about as far (further on occasion). I went for the 4 iron equivalent which I would liken to a lofted 2 and-a-half iron in terms of distance and shape (if that makes sense). Beware also - the grip is very poor so you'll probably want to replace it.

I've got the #2 (2 iron config) version with regular steel shaft. Never played it out of a bunker but it's very good off the tee, fairway and 1st cut.

I don't get too many problems with my iron play, so I bought this over - say - a 5 wood because I preferred the fact that it's setup was akin more to an iron than a wood (that's just personal preference).

I find that it's very consistent - sadly I'm not, and so when I've got a par 5 in range for 2 I usually 'scut' the ball. The 3rd shot though is usually pretty close (once I've settled down again). I don't know how much roll I get off it, but I would say that I have never had a problem in getting height from this club even off the fairway or range mats.

My driver usually plays fair with me, but when it's misbehaving the Rescue seems to save too many blushes.

£99 well spent.

Hi James,
Taylor made will introduce the rescue mid TP very soon, this is the version the pro's use on tour. I'm already playing with the rescue 3(19*) and 5(25*) but the tp version will also be available in 14, 16,19 degrees these are better for shot shaping and give more controll than the regular rescue ( if you have the level to play them.)
let me know

iv got a 16deg tp and i love it, it feels great, is easy to shape the ball with, hits the ball on a great flight and is relatively forgiving. i also have a steel s400 in mine and i love the shaft-head combination aswell.

I have the #4 with regular graphite shaft, took my 5wood out as similar in distance but much easier to hit,I now don't carry my 3 and 4 iron I would highly recommend it,high flying and not to much roll.
