I'm 15, and just bought a motocaddy s1 after years of wanting a powakaddy. Only thing is, I'm not sure it's of any advantage to my game and i don't really feel any fresher after a round with this than i did carrying - plus the fact my titleist tour bag doesn't fit in the bracket and has ripped it a bit - any suggestions? cheers guys

Sean - can I ask how you find the Motocaddy S1 - would you say it was a good buy? Good quality?
I used an electric trolley myself for the first time at the weekend and shot 2 under my handicap in the pouring rain!!
Anyway it was a Powakaddy Freeway Titanium but it was a little disconcerting that the bracket holding the top of the golf bag was prone to the wobbles - not a good sign on a trolley that costs over £400!!
I am toying with buying the S1 or the new Powakaddy Highway but can't seem to find any reviews on it just yet? How have you got on with the S1?

Anthony,

I`m hoping to get a Powakaddy in the spring, but I keep reading reports of how Powakaddy buyers aren`t entirely satisfied with their purchases. It`s especially annoying, given the fact they aren`t a cheap trolley!!!!

I`d say the Hill Billy is probably more reliable, but it looks a bit lightweight in structure...and it won`t carry my heavy golf bag :o(

Hiya Anthony, I've had no problems at all with the Motocaddy, it's everything I could ask for from a trolley, except my tour bag doesn't fit !!! I've used powakaddy and can't tell the difference, plus these look better. Folds up small, too - anyone want one? I could do you a really good deal :)

Sean - if you turned the numbers in your age around, you would certainly notice the difference! I would suggest that you buy a bag specifically designed for a leccy trolley, the big tour bags are not ideal.

CBC - Sell those becus, & you can buy one in the sales!!

The Highway has had all sorts of teething troubles, with all sorts of stories about recalls, motor problems, quality control etc. I would avoid it for now, look at a hillbilly - much the same beast, and the companys are apparently now under the same owners. The upper bracket on nearly all the leccy trolleys I have used have allowed the bag to wobble, in some cases the bag has slowly turned - not the ideal designs, but none of the powakaddy users I play with have actually had a problem in this regard.

Would you suggest that I stick to carrying?

Sean - I would suggest you carry on using the trolley, perhaps it's the bag that requires attention?

There's plenty of very good cart/trolley bags out there with 14 club dividers etc that are a shade smaller than your tour bag.
I use a Ping Discover bag myself and it's great.

Thanks for the info on the motocaddy - but why then do you really wish to get rid of it?

The "wobbles" I referred to earlier was not the bag but the bracket itself which caused the bag to wobble. The plastic joint does not really "grab" the chasis tightly enough and therefore the Powakaddy bracket wobbles. Has anyone else have this problem? Since the design is similar in most trolleys do they all do it?

One of the things about using a trolley rather than carrying is you will find that you walk a lot further, hence you probably not feeling any fresher.

However using a trolley will help to avoid back and shoulder problems which can affect anybody regardless of age.

You will find more use for the trolley in the summer, because you wont be walking as far, like JimP says, because of the restrictions around the green areas.

I am shocked that a 15 year old is using an Electric Trolley! Why!!! It's myth it will save you two shots a round. I used my mates Powercaddy (It's kept at the golf club) for a couple of weeks when he was on holiday and it got on my nerves.

A stand bag suits me and when I can no longer carry one round for 18 holes I will hang up my putter.

Frogmella, I couldn't agree more!!! As good as my tour bag looks on it, it's a right pain geting it to the course and back. I've bought myself a small stand bag and it really is much better.

This is the best golf trolley on the market. Loads of them are used in my area due to the company being local. My other half has had one for about 4 years.

they're dearer than a motocaddy though, and don't look as good. Plus the fact I've never heard of any problems with Motocaddy's.......
