Question, just read the details about the GPS caddie, sounds great and has had good reports on here too, but is it allowed when playing in competion, (monthly medal etc)

I really fancy one but at the best part of £250 I want to find out more first. From what I've learned you get your 1st course free then its £7.50 per course unless you subscribe, approx £30 per year, you still need to pay but not as much plus you get some other services. I think someone told me you only get the course for a year then you need to pay for it again but I'm not 100% sure about that.
I think you need to ask your club as to whether they have a local rule allowing/not allowing them in medals.

I looked at that one earlier, none of the courses I play were mapped and I wasn't sure about having to map them myself.

They are legal for comps etc as there was an R&A ruling. Mapping is easy, the Guy sent me the manual in advance so i could check it out, i could forward it if you like?
With the Skygolf GPS you have to pay every year but you dont with the igolf.

I think you'll find that Keve is right in that your club needs a local rule to allow them to be used in competitions.

Based on USGA & R&A decisions on the Rules of Golf, it is now allowable for a committee to pass a local rule permitting distance finders to be used in clubs, tournaments and competitions.
