lookin at new Callaway irons what differance will it make if I get graphite shafts instead of steel.
Show/hide user stats
Graphite shafts are lighter and can help increases swing speed but there are downsides.

What distance do you hit a 7 iron ?

about 145 with g2's steel shaft, nice pic by the way

I don't think graphite will make all that much of a difference to you. 145 yrd is not particularly short.

What attracts you to the graphite?

I dont know really just thinking cause they cost more they must be better. Going to try them tomorrow so will try both I guess, is custom fit worth doing do you think

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the grapjite shafts but I would definately go fo the custom fit.

Where is it you are going ?

I got my clubs checked last week, they all needed to be refitted. Apparently the "large golf store" I bought them from did not fit them as they had promised. Should have been 1 degree flat but where not.

Make sure you are there when they adjust them, get them to explain what they are doing and why. It is actually quite simple so don't let them baffle you with science

Hi

Especially with range where you can hit with the clubs

Thanks

Theres a bloke in Great Totham called Clive something I think. Supposedly a GREAT clubmaker.....I know hes on the TrueTemper website (or was). You could try him....

I would not go for graphite shafts unless you are older and/or have a very slow swing speed.

Steel shafts are better in irons, better feel, control, more durable and of course cheaper.
