So, guys, which would you rather have for your second into that long par 4, and why: a Benross 7 wood at £30, or a 21 degree MD Utility at £27?

But be honest, you're both more likely to be using a leather wedge out of the long grass!

I carry a 7 wood simply because I hit one longer than a rescue and the design of the one I have (Wilson Invex Titanium) makes it a superb to use out of deep rough.

It also gives great 'drop and stop' on to the longer holes.

Even Phil Mickleson was carrying one last year for just the same reason.

I change between a ram 21* recovery and a slazenger panther 7 wood. Distance is about the same but I get more hight with the 7 wood..

24 deg utility, , lands like a butterfly with sore feet, :o)

Personally I would prefer to use the Utility wood for any shot under 200 yards, however my playing partner has the Benross V3 fairways, (3 & 5 woods), and they are absolutely superb, definately my vote as bargain golf gear of the year.

Razzer, I already have a 25 degree ute, a great go-to club, so I'm tempted by a 20-21 to go with it. And Rob, I've got a V10 MAX driver and my V3 4-wood should be delivered tomorrow, so I'm tempted to get a 7-wood for a matching set of Aldilas - though there's not much wrong with my old Macgregor 7W, if I'm honest with myself.

I'd love to have room in bag and budget for both, because I think I'd use them in slightly different situations, but sadly it's one or t'other.

Still a leather sand wedge.
