Ladies clubs are good in many respects. They have softer flex shafts and more loft, as well being shorter and lighter. USUALLY!
I state this 'cos many budget sets that advertise "ultra-light" shafts etc aren't. Kids and ladies (beginners, high h'cap) would normally be playing 50-65g shafts, and some of those "ultra-light" budget things are more like 100g and lousy.
Mens A-flex (sometimes called senior flex) will be just as good.
Ladies and mens heads are the same size and weight, just the higher loft on the ladies.
My son is now 10 and started out with one of those terrible ladies sets. Now plays mens A-flex to ladies length in irons, mens std length and flex woods and driver. Has no problem hitting his Nike SQ that is one inch longer than mine.
