Since getting my new 7W, it's not going to replace the old one as expected - I'm going to be carrying both.
The new 7W has 20* loft and quite a whippy shaft, giving good distance, while the old one has 23* of loft and a firmer shaft, giving more control and a bit more forgiveness from an unfriendly lie, but it's a good 15 yards shorter. The new 7W is nearer in loft to my old 5W, plays just as long, and so that's the club I'll be dropping.
Does anyone else carry two clubs nominally the same - and why?

 does 2 wedges count?

I have 2 Taylor Made Rescue Dual TP's..one at 14° and one at 19°

I used to hit my 5 iron badly.
As a result of this my Xmas present of my missus was a R7 draw hybrid.
Lessons corected the orional 5 iron problem but the hybrid is still in there.
Why ?
Because it gives me a good "get out of jail card ". Out of the rough it gives a very high flight and it is the only club I can do a high cut with.

Wormburner, I was thinking more of, say, 2 pitching wedges (since they can vary by 4-5 degrees) or 2 60* wedges (eg with different bounces) - basically, any two clubs with the same designation written on them, but which you use for different purposes.

I currently have two 64* lob wedges in the bag. Stock Clevelan and a Rac TP 60* bent to 64* and ground with "Links Grind" by Jon Tate.

Thanks, Razzer. Just making conversation - if you don't like the question, you don't have to reply :-)

 doesn't sound like Razzer's getting any ;-)
I'm looking for a 7w at the mo of about 21* but will keep my 3 iron in the bag. The 7w will be for higher landing shots and from the rough.

I carry two 52 wedges with different soles to suit different lies.

I carry two absolutely identical 5 irons.

I don't know if you're joking, bustard, but from Creo's tale in his "one OEM" thread, maybe he should take a leaf out of your book :-)
BTW, my Dad carries two 6 irons: one from his normal set, one an ex-demo from one of those Wilson sets ("sixes that are fives" etc) which gives him the distance of his 5 iron but is easier to hit. It's nice to know we're not alone!

Heard a story that Olazabal used to carry two 7 irons, one left handed for playing out of trees etc.
