Can some one please tell me the pros and cons of the different types of vokeys.

From reading from the forum it would seem that the SM is the better of the two however is known for shredding up balls. That is why i was more drawn to the 200 series - i dont want to incur extra costs by buying more balls just because of my wedge choice.

However as I am only using a 2 peice ball they may be more durable with the SM but at the same time am I going to benifit the extra spin by not using a premium ball?

Unfortunatelty, my local pro shop only stocks the SM so i cant try both models out.

So which of the vokeys would you recommend taking into consideration I cant justify buying more balls at the expense of some extra spin.

Thanks

Hi
I just sold a Black Nikel vokey in a 58` 12 loft. Couldent get on with it. Maybe it was the bounce or just the loft.

Bought a spin milled vokey in the 200 tour satin in a 60` 4 bounce. Getting on better with this one from around the greens or about 70 yrds in and a few bunker shots to.

I think the ball left more of a mark on the black nikel vokey to be honest.

I`m after a 52` 200 tour satin next or a 54` spin milled.

i like them both.. spin milled 56 and 60 with 200 50*. kicked out my cleveland 588s which says it all itself.

dont notice a single bit of ball shredding like i would on any acceptably hit iron shot. i do use premium balls albeit ones that are notorious for ripping apart (bridgestone b330). but then i never ever hit a full wedge shot, nor do i try to get any silly ball dancing w*nk*ry. just throw the ball high or low as needed and let the trajectory take it where it needs to go. this will probably be your option too if youre sticking to the pinnacles.

im not sure you will notice much differance spinmilled V 200 if you are using such hard balls, however if a differant club is your only option then it will be worth it incase you do get spin gains with the spinmilled.

i dont think theres any real way of testing wedges other than playing with them over several rounds and differant weather / course conditions. perhaps just buy whatever you can get a hold of first, and if you dont like, sell it on, and repeat with differant wedge?

got vokey 52 ....56/60 spin milled.theoreticaly it does make a difference but unless you play for that much spin(most of us ar'nt confident enough),you won't notice the difference.
for somone like me who cant play 1/2...3/4 shots easily, they are a must.
this autumn i will get rid of mine to force myself to play with feal.

Spin-Milled are the same shape/grind as the 200, only they've got milled faces for extra spin. For most folk this would be worth having, but if you spin the ball like Greg Norman circa 1990 then perhaps stick with the non-milled versions.

Any by christ they do put spin on the ball when they're new! When I got a 60deg Vokey wedge the ball stopped like nothing I'd ever seen. They chew-up balls as well, especially shitty range balls!

I swing fairly slow, iron ave. 79mph, but I have pretty solid contact on the ball. I've been using an SM56.12 for a year and I've only noticed a little peeling on the ball a couple of times.

Hackers like me lose balls before they become unuseable :)

I have the 250.08 as well and it's sweet too, but you don't want a milled face on that kind of loft anyway.
