I bought a pair of these in a sale at the proshop having amassed a few quid in competitions. I paid 40 for them and got fitted, finding them comfortable in the shop.

On the course - disaster. It has been years since I have bought golf shoes that have hurt my feet. These things have as much breathability as a pair of plastic ones. The plastic lining is not padded and they caused my feet to sweat and swell up after only 5 holes - by nine holes my heels were blistered.

My usual shoes are Stuburt - they have a padded interior but do not cause the feet to overheat like the Footjoys - they have never blistered my feet even after an arduous 36 holes in the sunshine.

So the discount Footjoys were 40 quid - the discount Stuburt Concepts were 25 quid.

You pays yer money ...............

Hi Al - I had a pair of those and they were much improved when I put in a pair of leather insoles which are available from Clarks etc. I wore them for 2 years with comfort. I've now bought a pair of Ecco Saddlebacks which were £130. Fantastic shoe and as you say you pays your money............

I've had two pairs, sweet as a nut.

Remember the FJ Fit Dogs? Now, there was a shoe that crippled me - had to play barefoot for the back nine....

I loved the previous model of Aqualites, but when I finally exhausted all avenues to find them I tried the later version and, like Taz, hated the things.

I am now onto the FJ AQL's, which I assume is a derivation of the word "Aqualite" and they are awesome, most comfortable shoes I think I've worn, let alone golf shoes.

I've had mine for 3 years so maybe they are the 'old' model but they have been great. Unfortunately I was born with a slight foot deformity and I can only wear extremely wide fit shoes. Usually this means paying well over the odds or getting shoes custom made but the extra wide fit Aqualites have done the job brilliantly at an economical price.

Used to have the Aqualites, and they were comfortable for nearly 3 years. Replaced tehm with the Gel Fusion, again very comfortable.
Now wearing the new Reelfit, not cheap at £130 but the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. The steel laces actually tighten around your ankle as well for added support.

I've got a pair of very comfortable Dry-Joys....but...initially i nicknamed them 'blisterjoys' as it took about 4-5 rounds to break them in. Like a pair of old slippers now though.

Wow... My feet must fit Footjoy really well. They are ok from the off!

sports treks system which are a bit heavy(2 yrs) and AQL(£70) (2 mnths)light, great.

It's a bit odd, all this.

Bridgey says that his Fitdogs crippled him, whereas I found mine to be the absolute best golf shoe I've ever worn.

I've now got DryJoys, which are great, although every now and again, I hanker for the fitdogs.

Shoes in general are a bugger! Try them in the shop - lovely. Walk five minutes and it can be a different story.

How many pro-shops have those foot measuring devices in them (not sure if mine does)? Could that help make a difference?

I tend to find that if anything, the heel cups rub my feet to a lesser of greater degree, when I buy new footwear.

So I try them in the shop, just for an immediate yes/no, them sit at home, watching TV, while manipulating the heel cups with my thumbs. Really bending them about - imagine turning a normal pair of shoes into a pair of those open-backed things (mules?). Better to break down their resistance that way, than to go through the pain barrier while out and about....

now Beast why am I not surprised you are wearing the Reelfit. They must be as close as you can get, golf shoe wise, to your regular orthapaedic shoes!!!!!!!!!

I normally wear the Footjoy LT, got a few of these in various colours. best shoe ever bought for golf. with the rain yesterday dug out a relatively new pair of aqualites that i had in the garage, bloody things blistered my feet within 8 holes. now i realise why they were in the garage after very little use.
