Hi folks,

I'm thinking of upgrading my TM 320Ti driver to a good second hand R540xd from the internet. My 320 is 9.5 loft and TM stock stiff shaft which I hit pretty well.Problem is without trying the R540 and not knowing how light the head is,I'm not sure if I should still go for the stiff shaft or drop back to a reg.

Any opinions would be much appreciated.

Someone please correct me on this if I'm wrong, but isn't shaft stiffness generally determined by your swing speed? If this is the case, then if you need regular you should always use regular, if you need stiff, you ... etc.

Have you access to a computer swing analysis system anywhere near you? It might be worth having your swing properly measured to see what you actually need.

Thanks for replying but what i'm trying to say is this.Imagine swinging a stiff shaft with a feather at the end, then swing the same shaft with a brick at the end. Will it flex the same? I don't think so!

Watch out that the R540 is the 2008 conforming version. No point in changing to something that you can only use for 6 months.

I doubt that the 320 head weight will feel that much different to the 540 as the reason for the bigger heads is that the body shells have got thinner.

Strange thing this is, I changed my Titleist 983k with a R 4560 shaft to a Cobra 430 with 9 loft and a Stiff 55 g mid kick shaft. I am a slow swinger, about 90 I guess. The head and club certainly feel lighter than the 983k, and I hit it further and straighter also? goes against everything reccomended.
