Richard,

The pros use a new ball every hole because Titleist / Srixon / TM / Whoever bungs them 24 a round, and gloves and tees.

Most amateur golfers would struggle to justify a sleeve of premium balls a week. I know i do.

I am pretty convinced that a worldwide golf club and ball manufacturer (aka titleist) has at least a "6 sigma" operating line (ie. the manufacturing process has approx 3.6 defects per million and it may well be better)

Your product no doubt has been knocked up in a garage or garden shed is unlikely to have been tested and controlled to the same standards.

Convince me that your product guarantees the shape of the ball.

Given the swing i put on a club can affect the ball flight 50yds, how much difference will it be being 100% round or 99% round?

Dear Richard

This is an open note to you:

1. You posted your first post re this device 12/07/07 by passing yourself off as a "regular guy" pretending to have had a revelation about this remarkable new device and continued to big it up twice more
2. You posted your admission about your personal interest in it 19 days later after the thread died.

I do not think that I am being aggressive here. I think that you have been deceitful and that your device has been manufactured to be sold at a rip-off price of £9.99 plus postage, to try and take advantage of golfers out there. If you saw in my first response post on 31/07/07 at 16h20, I mentioned "It seemed quite impressive and after the demo, I mentioned that it looked very nice". In my opinion, this was complimentary. All I have done is point out the relevant details and facts, as well as the R&A Regulations.

You can couch it in as many terms as you like, but for what it is, £9.99 plus postage and deceit is not what we are about here.

let it go Amaboknaai!

There are plenty of tat golf items on the market, and plenty of daft punters to buy them. Rip off? Who's to say?

I think there've been enough posts here for people to make an informed choice.

Let it go? I am replying to an accusation that I am being aggressive. I am not the one who is hawking and being deceitful. Ifo you don't think it is a rip-off, say so...Assertive, maybe, and yes, I have strong opinions...

no, sorry, you made your point when you said it looked impressive but you thought it was overpriced. Fair comment
Then you opened a can of worms by trying to be clever and say it was probably manufactured in the far east for a few pence - basically implying that the vendors were ripping people off. When the response came back clarifying where the product was manufactured, you came back for ANOTHER go!!!

Point is it looks like you are getting more fun out of being a bit smart and slagging the guy off than is appropriate. Having strong opinions is not the same as being aggressive, though aggressive people often confuse the two.

Chill.

Just caught up with this topic and I believe that the post by Greg Begy, posing the question whether a ball can be classed as defective if a doubt arose over the accuracy of the measuring ring, to be very relevant.
Measuring ring material - Nylon. We are talking 3 diameters that vary in difference from the smallest to the largest by the amount of 0.02mm. Now we are talking very close tolerances here for a moulded product that is not kept in a controlled environment and where temperature fluctuations can invalidate the tolerancing of these 3 rings. A further observation I would like to make is regarding the design of the rings. The initial idea was centred on concentricity of a golf ball so why are the outside contours of the rings not concentric to the inner measuring circle. Temperature changes will not only lead to a sizing change but also [ however slight ] the measuring hole will become distorted. Also the wear factor of nylon will soon negate a tolerance of 0.02mm. and that is assuming the tolerance was there in the 1st place.

Maybe you have it in for me? I am trying to do the members and regular posters to this Forum a service. Have you seen the product? Have you tried the product? I have done both. I was also subject to the quite determined salesman at the London Golf Show. Someone would have to pay a significant amount of boodle for a stand which would have to be recovered.

I am not trying to be smart here as you have suggested. I am sick and tired of Rip-Off Britain. I am sick an tired of being subjected to dubious marketing techniques and most of all, the acceptance of mediocrity as a standard.

Chill? I am actually one of the most chilled out people you can hope to meet. But, I have very high standards...Please go and buy one and satisfy the deceit.

Paul L - I am glad that once again the members of this forum have given a spammer a hard time - it's nothing less than he deserves.

We have been inundated in the past with this type of product promotion within the forum - for those of you who remember Mike Humphries and his Master Groover. Some of the funniest threads ever were generated by members taking the p!ss.

.... just wish I had seen this thread earlier - I would have joined in with the insults.

;-)

Let this be a warning Richard - we don't take kindly to spammers.

I think there is only 1 real cause for annoyance here, and that is Richard failed to be up-front about his relationship with this product in the first place. Had he introduced himself and his product at the very outset there would have been no arguement.

Whether the product is any good, value for money, or made in Britain is immaterial. The fact he wasn't straight at the beginning is enough kill my interest.

Shameless promotion, trying to con people, go chase ambulances somewhere else.

Ok. I'm in the minority I apologise to anyone I may have offended (i really don't have it in for you A')

I haven't bought the product, when I first saw it I thought "gimmicky crap" and didn't really take much notice beyond that. But anyone who wants to shell out their money something like this is welcome to it in my view. if they get utility or enjoyment out of it, who's to say its money poorly spent? After all he's not selling endowment policies to old ladies. He's just trying to cash in on the gullibility of some of the golfing public - and lets face facts, if they're not spending money on this product, there is a whole host of other tat and rubbish on the market they WILL spend it on.

Accept your points about the disingenous marketing approach - I just thought the reaction was a little bit excessive and too personal. Just my opinion.

If someone is really spamming, the thread should be reported to the moderator and removed.

That's me done.

Steady! You are getting on dangerous territory - I am very defensive when it comes to people denigrating the way I earnt my living.
Particularly as the old ladies were extremely generous with the proceeds from said endowments - the advantage of being well-endowed.

;-)

and I would have removed it, if I had seen it earlier - but hey, it generated some discussion - can't be too severe.

:-)

Point taken by all...

Mods - how about closing this thread? Personally, I have exhausted myself and need to save my energy for weekend's golf.
