whats with all the sarcasm guys?

It was genuine question, i dont know a great deal about all the different types of irons avaiable.

But have seen a few posts saying the new wilson irons are long. I believe but done quote me on it they use different lofts for each iron to the basic set up.

So a 6 iron has the loft of a 5 but the shaft length of a regular 6 iron.

There have been quite a few threads raised on them.

have a search

Thankyou for your response. Dont know what was in the question that prompted those replies but no matter. I think it's time to get the benefit of any new technology so I'll look for the Wilson stuff.

Just had a look their called DI7,

but sure there are plenty of other brands that will claim to be long too!!

Hawkeye VFT are not that old, I doubt newer irons would allow you to hit it further unless your current shafts are totally wrong for you.

Wilson do claim long distances for their Di7's, but that's 'cos the lofts are all strong. I.e. a Di7 8-iron has the same loft as typical 7-iron from another manufacturer. So who's kidding who?!
Your question should really be: which is the longest iron with a (for e.g) 21° loft (typical 3-iron)?
But you might find that it actually more dependant on the shaft (type, flex, torque etc).
I would hazard a guess that some of the "hot" face irons such as the TaylorMade r7 XD etc would be amongst the best, if all other variables such as shaft, loft etc were the same.

Thanks for that .I guess the best plan is to get measured properly and buy shafts and lies to suit my swing. Getting older and hanging on to a 11 h'cap I need all the help I can get. Are there many places in the south east of england that do that?
