My only advice is only use it if you really have to!

Lob wedges are great for escapes, no use (to me at least) for any approach shot from the fairway.


I agree 110% with this. I find lob wedges nigh-on impossible to use for approach shots, whereas with my pitching wedge, I'm pretty accurate (and can get all the backspin I need). But: if you are stuck behind a tall barrier where a PW or SW can't hack it, the lob wedge can be a lifeline. I'd say get a 60 degree wedge (64 is perhaps a little unplayable for most).

With regard to make, if you can afford to wait a couple of days, I'd recommend trying Specialist:

I really strongly recommend these. They're slightly heavier feeling than a lot of others, but if you can handle that, they repay dividends. Prior to picking one up cheap on ebay, I had a rusted Vokey, and I personally found the Specialist won hands down (and the Vokey was far from shabby). Your mileage may vary, of course.
