My question:
Why we always must by a full set?
I want to by: irons :5/6/7/8/9 but sand pitch and lob wedges from another supplier.
Bying each club separately is the future!

Buy ping, each iron can be purchased seperately!!

Buy Ping, get 5 individual irons for the price of a full set !!! :-)

I'll be buying a part set next time when I am custom fitted out. I only want PW - 5. OK, it will cost me a little bit more per club but its still cheaper than buying 3 clubs I dont need.

There not clubs you dont need hooker, there clubs you cant use.

I have got two sets which are just 5-PW.

wtae, who needs any club they can't use?

My set is 5-GW, which given loft changes over the last decade or so is equivalent to an old 4-PW.

I agree with Paul - there should be far more flexibility (and given modern stock-keeping methods, there's no excuse for it). I have the opposite need - I want 1 and 2 irons available as part of a set. Most companies don't even make them now, and those that do often charge a fortune if you want them, treating them as esoteric extras. This attitude has now spread, I regret to say, to a lot of pros in golf shops, who regard you as unreasonable wanting to play with long irons.

I also think it's a great shame that the half set is now rarely sold. I think a lot of newbies would do far better playing with a half set of good clubs than a full set of tat for the same price. And for juniors, a half set is a lot easier to carry.

"There not clubs you dont need hooker, there clubs you cant use"

I beg to differ on that one.

I can use the 4i and 3i in my current set but I prefer to carry the equivalent rescue clubs as they offer me more versatility from all conditions. For example - hitting a 3i from the rough is a challenge to most players yet with a rescue its so much simpler and the results much more consistent. That being the case why spend £70 - 80 per club extra when you wont be using them?

I bought the G5 full iron set from Ping 4 – SW, problem is there is a 8 degree gap between the wedge and the sand wedge so you have to buy the “U” wedge to complete the set! Why is that?
