hi, im in need of some advice, im a 23 handicapper and i have just brought a set of youre f.a.s.t iron clubs. i hit the 5 iron perfect but when i hit the 3 or 4 i seem to go to the right. i have tried putting the 8 weight in the heal, but i still seem to be going to the right. can anyone solve this problem for me, i thought maybe it might have something to do with my stance or posture. i would be grateful for any help, comments, or advice. thanks.

Try playing the ball back in your stance about 2 inches further off you front foot as you have been as it seems you are hitting these offset clubs past the apex of your swing..... Secondly you might wish to mess with your placement until it is right for you as you know the longer the club the closer you have to play it like your driver...then as you set up to hit the ball look about 2 inches in front of the ball and keep that focus as you swing---reason your arc (apex) will be right at the back of the ball 99% of the time...Hope this helps and you have not given up on them yet

Put the F.A.S.T Irons in the bin, buy some decent Irons and get some lessons. I STILL cannot believe anybody buys Slazenger tat (At silly prices) after seeing the crap adverts on TV.
But Sam, Tony and Kenny use them so they must be good. I just got a set of MP60's but I've been thinking of trading them in for a set of fast irons.

try and ignore the abuse you'll get for buying the irons, I have never tried them so cant comment on them personally. from what other people say you would probabily have been able to get better clubs for the price, but it doesnt matter now, you have brought them! They will still do the same job as most other irons, if you can develop a good swing then I'm sure you will learn to hit them all well! Cant help you with you technique im afraid, mines pretty awful! just try not to let everyone make you think you'll never hit them straight because they were made by slazenger!

For every pocketbook there is a product..... Some good, some not so good, but once bought make the best of it....... I have not played nor used their clubs in quite awhile (new products) because I am still having a kindred friendship with my Crown Sterlings ------If everyone thought these were so bad, what has ALL the other manufacturers copied or used their design for their New/Newer/ and Newest lines....... I just got and really like the Aldila Shafts and heads in the RD Driver/3/5 woods...combined with the right ball--they go well

First of all, don't listen to the gear snobs. Okay, the adverts are cringeworthy and the clubs are not the magic bullet they claim, but they do the basic job well enough for now. If you're hitting 5 and up okay, then don't take 3 and 4 with you. Get a 23* hybrid and use that. Or just play sensibly, use your shots, and accept it'll take you one more shot to get there - but if the last one is a wedge to one-putt distance, who cares?

GVI, Its got nothing to do with being a gear snob mate, I Have had experience with the last Set of Slazenger greats the Big Ezees. My mate was taken in by the Adverts on the now (sadly) defunct golf channel, He bought these clubs believing all the jargon and Speil that Tony Jacklin and Sam Torrence were shouting. What a pile of shite these so called wonder clubs turned out to be! the paint finish faded quicker that a big brother contestants career, The quality was so bad that even Delboy would have thought twice about selling them in the pub! He had them for approximately 2 months and e-bayed them! (as no pro shop would part ex them!) and getting in return for a total outlay of £300? £98 ~ minus £202 ~ result!!. He also bought the K1 speed driver and found afterwards it did'nt conform to the new regulations, Although he has now had this changed by JJB sports for a legal one! I personally would rather spend half of the money on a set of MD golf Auroras or a third of it on a set of Ram FX 7's and get some budget beginners quality than waste my money on a set of Slazengers! Incidently if these clubs are so good Why Does Neither Jacklin or Torrence use them? So as I say its not the snob factor, its about quality, And these clubs are not Quality or Value for money!

I don't disagree with you 1 over, and I wouldn't recommend anyone buy FAST irons, a K1 or a Handy Sandy, but once you've forked out your hard-earned, you might as well get what use you can out of them before they fall apart IMHO. Get a year's improvement in and read more reviews before buying the next set! To be fair to them, I was bought a Slazenger hybrid two christmases ago and it's still in the game bag. Not great, but does a job.

Slazenger used to be a really decent brand in golf - actually the clothing is still pretty good - didn't Seve use Slazenger kit in his prime?
But will you see any improvement? With these clubs I think not! Its a shame that companies sell stuff this bad for so much money! It would'nt be so bad if they were Cheap! But over £300 a set? You could go into most pro shops in the country, spend £300 and come out with a complete set up, Driver, Rescue, Decent starter Irons and putter, inc bag, shoes and balls! Tim, I agree with you on the clothing part, I have got some T-shirts and shorts from them and yes seve did use slazenger clubs but I bet they paid him an absolute fortune!

You mean like Nike pay Tiger?
Exactly my friend! But at least he put the clubs in to his bag! Not like Jacklin and Torrence! And I bet their Endorsments didnt come cheap!

Back when Seve played slazenger they were a good brand with quality kit. They were bought by JJB some years ago and the quality and value can be beaten by the likes of Benross, MD and Ram.

Took us a long time to answer the original post, didn't it? JJB have the rights to Slazenger in the UK, & also, (shamefully) the right to use the Maxfli branding. TM bought Maxfli, & have apparently discontinued the use of the name. In answer to the OP, Patrick, if you still have the clubs, I'm sure that you will have sorted out the swing by now, & , probably, you are looking for another set of clubs.

To be quite Honest with All whom have replied.....Todays Slazengers are NOTHING short of Crap from what they were in the early to mid 80's........... 1) Everything has been farmed out to China 2) Dunlop/Slazenger was dumped off to investors, and Slazenger is not Marketed Worldwide by one company but by 3 now--PacBrands in Asia, Australia, East--Slazenger LLD in Europe and Dick's Sporting Goods in America 3) Quality Control is almost Non-Existant...NO 2 Heads weigh the same-even from other sets..Swing Weights fluctuate drastically---some I saw had D-2, others C-10, others even D-1, or D-3 4) Getting a Flow Matched, Splined Alligned, and Frequency Matching set of Shafts TODAY does not exist.... 5) Apollo Shafts that were once the rage in Europe and America are no longer made in England---but China under non-existant guidelines---------Just think in the 80's Apollo was making Tru-Temper and other still fine shafts............. 6) I own a very fine set of Slazenger Crown Sterling Hand Forged Cavity Back Irons I bought in 1986--and at that time they (Slazenger) hand measured and fit you for your sets.....These came with Made in England Match-Flex IV Stiff Shafts(at the time were the Premier Shaft on the Market)...Mine took me 4 Months to get, not 4 steps to a register.. Mine were and still are Registered as DK0034, 1+2 Iron are different they are DK0011, but the others are the same Serial Number...These were Weighted D-2, Frequency Matched, Splined Allingned(New in it's day) and ALL Shafts came from the same batch, and these clubs took me from a 10 Handicap to a 3 in one year.....Slazenger was one of the first companies to Invent the Cavity Back in their Irons and Patented it Worldwide but fell onto hard economic times and sold off alot of the really good things right after Seve, Nick, Ian and others deiced to look at other equipment, and their American counterparts were courted by others like Titlest, MacGregor,Haig, and other companies back then------------------------ Unfortunately that was then is this is now---Now not too good for them........No Research and Developement funding available results in Bad Products sorry to say........ Even their Golf Balls are nothing like they were--their Tour Fusion was the cats meow..... But as I said earlier in my comments---------Everyone has a Pocketbook and a Product that fits it, but once you have spent the $$$$$ on it use it as best you can---------BUT do YOUR Research before you Drop your dough(money) down the toilet

I bought the big ezee's on the strengh of the advert and reduced my handicap from 20 to 13 I now approach every shot with confidence I also bought a slazenger big ezze driver and now hit straight 250 yd drives most drives its a personel thing some of the top brands are harder to hit and more exspensive what fits one player wont suit another try before u buy dont be bulied into conforming with general opinion if we all followed like sheep life would be boring thanks slazenger keep them coming
Might not work for you but it is worth trying: I have quite a good swing but i was so inconsistent, i would hook, slice, block etc etc with woods and long irons. The magic formula for me was shifting my weight from right to left as i start the down swing, since i fugured this out my game has imporved ten fold!

thanks for that with me changing my grip and stance i am hitting thru the ball and finishing which i wasnt i think if u correct one fundemental problem others smaller problems may be fixed without u realising thanks for the advise new to the forum and will speak again thanks
