Hi folks.

 I currently play using Wilson Prostaff OD Oversize irons.  I have had these clubs for years now however have only just started playing again, and Im slowly improving.

My mate is selling a set of clubs.  They are Auchterlonies of St Andrews 4 - PW and he wants £30. Ok price and have played with them and they are ok.

I have the chance of getting some MD Aurora Irons from Pricebustergolf.co.uk for £79.99 reduced from £120.

My question is this - Do i go for the MD Golf Aurora Irons (they will be a birthday present from my wife)?  Has anyone heard or used these clubs before?

If people say steer away, should i get the aucterlonies or stick with my Wilsons??

Im on a tight budget so can't really afford much - these are the only options i have!

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a big fan of MD (I have just purchased some MD Tungsten ti irons) and I own MD woods and wedges already. Generally speaking, their clubs use the same excellent components put into more expensive clubs, but at a decent price.

However, while their irons usually receive a decent amount of media attention for a smaller manufacturer, the Auroras seem to have generally slipped under the radar.  I've seen them in online shops, but have never heard them mentioned in terms of their quality. Clearly they are MD's super-budget clubs.

If you get them retrospectively custom-fitted (ie after you've bought them) it could end up costing more than you buying a better set and getting them custom fitted when you order them (which is often free of charge).

I knwo that getting them custom fitted is definately the way to go.

I think I may wait for a while and get a better set from a shop and get them fitted for free.

Will definately be getting an MD wedge though - I bought the MD Stardust putter last week.  Played 9 holes today with it and it is superb!!
