I am looking for a new putter as I am struggling with my two ball. I keep shortsiding myself and think that a small part of the problem may be that the white hot insert is to soft for our greens.

I like a heavy headed putter and am thinking of getting a YES C-Groove blade putter.

Have any of you tried these putters? If so what do you think of them?

And do you know where to get them?

Is this the start of the great Two - Ball sell off.

Try the Ping SPecify range. Can custom fit them to your spec. GOt one and love it!

My Wilson Deep Red has a heavy head and works well for me. The insert is not as soft as the 2-ball and a groove just behind the face (a la ping) gives a nice positive sound on contact.

I tried the White Hot and found it to soft so went for the DFX, must admit though those YES putters look the dogs. Tried a Ping with the Blue insert, that felt REALLY nice but having just spent £120 I thought the wife might have noticed 2 putters in my bag. Have you seen the new ones just reviewed on here?

It will be the first putter I go back to, once my custom-made Ping Specify begins to misbehave. Hope this helps. ED

I tried one, but at my level of game I wasn't very good with it. Alignment was easy but I couldn't gauge distance very well - which was probably more to do with my inexperience at the time.

My current putter is a basic "heavy" mallet with an angled sole from Bronty - who have a load of putters out there but who are effectively minoes in the land of Titleist, Callaway and TaylorMade.

I've now gotten better at putting and come the summer I'll be buying a new one, as well as a new set of wedges. At the moment I'd really like to have a go of the John Letters (www.johnletters.com) "Silver Swan" putter, basically because I like the brand and also I need the confidence of a nicely balanced mallet. Folk will say that it's a futura "rip off", but if it's anywhere as good as the "Trilogic" putter (that stands up on it's own so you can check your line from behind), then I'd be happy to pay the asking price.

I know the Yes putter it just that (a balanced mallet), but - for some reason - it just didn't like me.

As with everything, give it a whirl and see how you get on with it. At the end of the day it's you who has to use it.

I too have just got rid of my 2 ball putter which had the DFX insert. There were a few things about it I did not like, the size I found very offputting (off-putting!)and I could not judge distance at all.

Managed to get a very reasonable £90 trade in for it at AGD and ended up with a Taylor Made Rossa Sebring. and the only thing I can say is WOW! Really good weight and for me it is as close to perfect as I can get.

I have actually just had a small rebate on my electricty and gas bill of £300, and the wife has said I can spend it on a putter.

I am tempted to look at the ping JAS range which my Pro will do for £245 custom fit, as I also have £60 worth of vouchers for winning the mixed summer knockout this may be a good purchase.

What do you guys (and girls) think?

My advice Vince is to check out my review on the Ping Specify putter (http://www.golfmagic.com/news/article.asp?SP=&v=2&UAN=3170).

You can build your own on their website then take the Specifications to your pro and have him order it for you. Cost is about £130 but could be less now. Honestly not worth spending over £200 on a putter that might go out of favour.
Spend the change on a couple of putting lessons with your pro and some good quality golf balls. Job done.

Yep I had a 2-Ball and I've now got a Yes C-Groove.

Why?? Well, unbelievably, I found that with the 2 ball, I just could not sink a 6 foot putt. I know that's supposed to be their strength, but I just couldn't.

I tried the C-Groove on the advice of a local Pro ( I was originally going to get a Scotty)

Anyway, I originally bought the Tracy II, but it was toe-weighted and I found I was pulling everything left of the hole. Fortunately, the Pro exchanged it for a Tracy Face balanced version, which is great (and is also the same putter that Goosen used to win the US Open).

It's a nice weight and really does get the ball rolling end over end.

I love mine and now have regained the confidence to sink the 6 footers
