Been looking for a cheap push cart for my Dad for Xmas....  Has to be cheap otherwise he'll get in a rage and not use it

Seen a £35 model in Argos that looks pretty good.  Item Number is 3219207 (or follow the link for a look)

Anyone already have this and can let me know what they think ?

Any other models around this price range or below I should consider instead ?

many thanks,

Rob

I'd be really interested in this as well as I've been looking for a push cart, but they seem to start at about £75!

Any input would be gratefully received!

Have you been to any of your local course proshops? You might find as I did when I was looking for the same thing a couple of years ago, that they have similar products which are of much better quality and not much more expensive.

I know it's £15 more expensive but I think this http://www.pricebustergolf.co.uk/ishop/1035/shopscr1471.html would be a much better option.

I hope you find what you're looking for.

Know what you mean about parents and cheapness  Never realised you weren't meant to push a pull trolley  I have bought three of the cheapest out of Argos for different relations, and pushed and pulled them myself, and have found no problem with any of them

I have a similar one (Slazenger) from JJB, it was £45 but is a very similar design to that and find it's great.

My best friend has a Powakaddy Twinline 3 push-along one and I don't feel it's as good as my cheaper one.  There are 2 main problems with it -

1. The brake doesn't really hold the weight of the trolley and bag when on a hill.  I have no idea why it doesn't as it's a very similar design to the one on my trolley which works fine.

2. The twin-tubed design slips a lot when pushing the trolley as though the clamping mechanism isn't strong enough.  Because the JJB and Argos models hinge in the middle there

It could be both of these problems are because of the weight of his bag, etc.

The big advantage of the Powakaddy is the front wheel is hinged, while on the JJB (and by the looks of it, the Argos model) the front wheel is detached before folding.

Ignore the link on my last post, they're out of stock.

I'm an idiot.

Problem with pushing a pull trolley is when you catch the bit wthout a wheel in the ground and fall a$$ over t*t !!!!!!

Cheers for the replies so far everyone.... Will have another look in the pro-shop next time I'm there...

Was in JJB today and only saw a single pull cart.  Need to visit the other shop in town later, methinks....  Liked the look of the Maxfli Merge Cart bag mind you.....

The Powerkaddy's look OK, but I'd need to hide it's price if it comes back in stock soon and I plump for that one....

It took me months to get a good deal on a new set of Irons for my dad to replace his "hand-me-down" ancient clubs....  New ones aren't as well made, but far more forgiving for him....

Well, finally took the plunge and bought the Argos model....

Couldn't find a 3 whell model at a couple of local proshops (just 2 wheel and leccys)...

Saw a model in Nevada Bob's for £50 but thought I'd try the Argos one as I've got a couple of weeks to return it, if I didn't like it when I got it out the box....

So for those interested.....

Initial impressions are pretty faviouable.  Looks absolutely huge but I think thats more to do with the sotrage area near the handle....

I got an old pull trolley out for comparison and I reckon it's only 10% bigger.  A bit loger, but that's down to the front wheel.

The frame is also a lot bigger than a pull trolley, which makes it heaveir although I assue that won;t be an issue as you don't need to tip it when pushing it along.

Back wheels seem to come off quite easily which makes it even smaller for stowing in the car but I'm unsure if you should be taking the rear wheels off each time you use it...

Footbrake seems a bit of a pig to get on and off mind you, although I've not yet tried that with te weight of the bag so I reckon that will make it a lot easier.

All in all, I think it's reasonably decent for the price....  Should be having a round with my Dad next week so will get him to use it - Only a month early but that'll be alright...
