My old bag broke so i replaced it with a cobra without really looking into it - needed one quickly and didn't have to pay so that was that. However, I've found that it doesn't have enough space so I want to replace it mainly because winter/spring golf will need all sorts of clothing/gubbins to be held in it. It's also not too waterproof either so that's an issue as well. So guys, what i need is a recommendation for a bag upto about £70 (links would be nice but website homepage would be enough) with loads and loads of space and a nice valubles pouch.

 I'll let you know what i think of the new Nike Sasquatch Tour bag i'm picking up on Friday. Looks good on paper, quite light, plenty of pockets and a 14 way full length club divider. Slightly over your budget though at £99. When you say it needs to hold a lot of stuff, can you say what? The Nike should be able to carry all 14 clubs, Umbrella, a dozen balls, 2 packs of tees, a few gloves, waterproof top/trousers, jumper, sunglasses, drink and choccy, car keys & mobile quite easily.

 I've a Sun Mountain "Flight" (I think) bag, with 14 way divider. It has a main pocket running up one side which I've stuffed with waterproof trousers, top and jumper, plus towel without problem. Additional zip pocket on that also, plus a valuables pocket (lined) atop. Smaller pocket on other side for drinks, fruit, etc. Then two front pockets: one big enough for 20 balls at least, and then a kind of top loading pocket, that holds all the tees, pencils, etc Lightweight (although not with all that in there!) and seems to cope with showers well... although not convinced how it stands up in a storm... I don't tend to play in them! Good luck.

 ........what else can you possibly need to take with you ? That lot would fit in a carry bag surely. If not, try a 2nd hand Tour Bag and start saving for a shoulder transplant.

Another vote for Sun Mountain, best out there in my opinion. Ogio have all the bells and whistles but fall apart fairly quickly in my experience. A lot of guys that I play with swear by the old Ping Hoofer.

If you really want a budget bag (which you probably don't, but I had a look yesterday at them and was quite impressed), Tescos have a large stand bag for about £24. If you're not bothered about logos, etc, it'd be great! It's got space for tees, balls, chocs and even clubs (no, really?!?). I'm only a novice golfer, but have looked at bags and other products before and was quite impressed (as was my missus, who is a tech teacher and seamstress - she said it was well put together!)

I have a Cobra stand bag - it was about 50 quid as a special offer. It's OK but not in the same league as my old Sun Mountain, which I will likely be going back to when I buy the nex one. You can't go wrong with a Sun Mountain.

 Another vote for Sun Mountain. I am always a fan of a company that specializes in a few items and does not try to cover everything.

on the theme of "specialist" bags, i'm currently looking at ogio. look pretty good and i'm happy to pay a few squids extra if the quality is there vs most manufacturers' pro-forma offerings. been reading the reviews and they look quite nice and i like a bit of style...

Much as I love my Sun Mountain, I was forced to play a comp on Saturday in the pouring rain, and it's NOT waterproof. Still a great bag, especially as I never play out of choice in storms! It copes with light showers fine though.

Picked up the Nike this afternoon, was amazed at how light weight it was. The carry system is far nicer than the bag i currently have. Will give it a go this weekend to see how much junk i can fit into it and report back!

 I have the Ogio Flight with shling system, there is plenty of room and has loads of useful pockets etc and the woode club system is the best ive come across. Im not sure wether they make it anymore but all the Ogio bags are fairly similar. The only slight grumble i have is the stand sometime sticks.

Well, it's taken quite easily 14 clubs, 24 golf balls (just for testing to see how many it will carry, could have easily put another 24 in), 3 golf gloves, 1 pair mac wet gloves, umbrella, waterproofs (trousers/jacket), jumper, cap, numerous golf tees, pen & pencil, scorecard, drink and mars bar. Then i ran out of stuff to put in it. Was still very light and balanced very nicely on my shoulders.
