I have two questions: 1) Is it possible to buy a TM RAC LTII AW from anywhere now that they discontinued? 2) If not, are there any wedges available with 51 deg? seeing as the lofts go PW 47 and SW 55 and the TM AW is 51. A 51 gap wedge would be best. or am i thinking about this far too much and just go and buy a 50 or 52 degree wedge? Answers on a postcard...

I had a LT2 AW, but I have no idea what I did with it, no use whatsoever I am afraid, but there must be some floating around on Fleabay or one of the other golf websites. I got a 51* Snake Eyes wedge last week. There are 51* wedges around, though the reality of getting a 52 and having it bent 1 degree stronger will widen your choice considerably and only reduce the bounce by one degree which wont really affect it noticably at all.

having it bent 1 degree stronger Is that something which is common practice and who would be able to do that? thanks for the advice

Mizuno MP-T series come in 51 degrees

I'm with Creosote, get a 52 gap wedge and if needed, bend it. I had a plan to do the same as you and bend a 52 to 51, but I thought that for the tiny difference it would make, I'd rather just get used to it as is.

mike, i have a cleveland wedge in 51 deg. im pretty sure they make all wedges available in 51 deg.

Mike - its common practise, any club-fitter can do it. Most irons and wedges can be bent a couple of degrees though forged clubs bend easier and more safely. How do you think irons get adjusted when ordered to ones specs? They take a standard set and bend them.

Could you really spot the difference between 51 and 52 degree and would your golf ball always be that exact differnce distance away from the flag. Just buy whatever is available and find out how far you hit . Any good quality 50+ wedge would do as they are pretty much all the same and only by trying a few would you find what best suits you.

Either the Mizuno MP-T, as Paul says, or SMT Durometer wedges are available in 51*. However, seeing that your SW is used under very different circumstances from your gap wedge - and would have very different bounce characteristics - I don't see that a 52* wedge would create any great imbalance in your set.

Mizuno mx series - great wedge!

Thanks for all the advice. With the lofts going PW 47 --> SW 55 --> LW 60 Should i be getting a 50 degree or a 52 degree?
|
 |
Mike - 51* in theory but doenst matter too much, my wedges are 44, 52 and 64, and I used to play with just 44 and 64. Its whatever YOU are happy with, not what others think is best.
|
 |
you'll probably find that there is a larger selection of 52's than 50's.
|
 |
hoss: i've definately found that to be the case. Creosote: i know it doesn't matter too much really, but I have an obsession with having things very neat and organised!! it will piss me of if certain things are not perfect! lol wierd i know... If only i could find a TM LT2 AW! then my problems will be solved.

Mike - I understand, then keep looking for the AW, you'll be happier with that than the compromise 51 or 52 I think.

Mike07, Get on ebay and keep on looking. It has taken me over 12 months of looking to get a matching SW for my Nike Pro Combo's and it was worth the wait. A great club which feels like a natural step from my PW and it only cost me £18 delivered. I do have a 52 and 58 degree Nike SV wedges which are great wedges but are more like cousins to the Pro Combo as apposed to brothers, if you know what I mean .

Most manufacturers tolerances for loft would mean that a "52" stamped club could be 51 or 53. Lofts can also get knocked out through use, so if you want to keep it all neat and tidy, you will need someone to check the loft of your clubs. As has already been said - 1 degree of "stamped" difference is probably not noticeable difference, and may be negated by manufacturing.

good news!! Approached a guy selling LT2 SW and aksed if he could get me a AW. He phoned the US and ordered one for me! Will take a few weeks, possibly a month to get, but i'm not complaining. Thanks for all the advice!
